derealization without depression or anxiety,

Posted by n_shrimpie on June 11, 2012, at 16:48:14

Is it possible to have derealization without depression or anxiety? I'm on 200 mg Lamictal, which improves my mood, but I still have horrible derealization and cognitive issues.it's torture. I suppose I do have anxiety over that issue alone. Could the lamictal be causing the derealization? I've considered that, but when i try to lower the lamictal my depression returns in full force. Neurotin worked temporarily but seems to have stopped.

shrimpe...you posted this before, I wrote alot of stuff to help you out....get on a benzo, know that this reality you see right now is real, its not a dream or another reality...yo've got to use mental force to make yourself not be torchured by these thoughts...of course there's lots of stuff that could be causing this, and I admit I may not know all of your situation, but seriously avoid cannabis, some types of wine, There's something called Tranxene that is long acting and yoou would not have to redose with klonopin or xanax....it may be helpful until you find a source of this problem causing this.

What started all this in the first place?

i was just reading about traxene and it's addictive like all the other benzos...i'm absolutely terrified of any meds with addictive properties. at one point i was doing relatively well on nardil coupled with intense exercise to increase my energy levels and control the weight gain. i'm also considering parnate.

But technically it seems that most meds psychiatric or other are addictive? Some say SSRI's are worse than benzos. Phillipa

no, that's not true. you don't develop a physical addiction to ssri's.

Exept for one on the SSRI's....Effexor I've heard nasty posts of coming off it. There is some psychical stuff that SSRIs will produce if you disontinue them suddenly...really in my opinion all this addictive bullcrap modern day doctors have stated, if its used for the correct reason, and not abused, it will have beneficial effects....a couple people here on babble take nueroleptics for their conditions and the only diffrence is that pleasant relief feeling benzos provide. I'm just too lazy to research and bring them up but believe me if you type in effexor and withdreawl in the babble search it will bring alot of posts up about it....use mental force and don't let your thoughts control your reality, make reality control your thoughts.

Lactimal caused me derealization.
But only when I withdrew from it. Was a horrible feeling.
It caused me cognative issues while taking it.

Its a very fine line. The SNRIs are famous for really nasty withdrawal effects. Almost like coming off street drugs.
Some patients even claim they start feeling ill just before their next dose is due.

I just went from 60 to 30mg of cymbalta and then started back on low dose luvox. Only thing noticed was that when stopped the cymbalta I had back pain and still do 7 years later. Evidently the cymbalta was helping it. Phillipa
