Where Is Everyone Posting Now? Seriously

Posted by Phillipa on May 25, 2012, at 10:17:46

I find it hard to believe that no one has any problems. There must be another site that others are posting on. Used to always be able to count on babble. No can't. And figured out last night that sleep is all that is left in life for me. So maybe it's time to check out? I always thought with loss of taste 9 years ago it was the beginning of the end. Not I'm pretty sure it's true. Docs don't care. Most do nothing just take your co pay and its out the door. Some have even refused to do bloodwork after more than 4 years of none. Guess it's survival of the fittest. Reminds me of the Great Depression. Phillipa

hi dear phillipa my fellow anosmiac.

i'm still a rookie here, coming-up on a year. but, i can give you my opinion, which will not be worth too much...

i post at another site. this other site does not seem to have the hostility that some posters have here. much more positive and supportive overall than here.

most of those who post here are great, but it gets tiresome to hear from a few posters that seem to almost want to start an argument or conflict. plus, it also seems like the same old arguments come-up over and over from the same people. for me that = BORING and unhelpful.

people also just simply move-on in life. that is just a fact. babble i believe is no different. hoping too, that many may have gotten better and don't babble anymore. i hope that becomes the case for me! :)

john

ps have you tried 'voseges' chocolate bars yet? i think i have mentioned them to you before. expensive, but i promise you that you will taste it! try their barcelona bar; chocolate with almonds with raw sea salt. killer!

I have a job now and a bit of a life. Also, I think I have talked out all my mental illness and gotten my meds right. I started babble in a state of med withdraw and wanted the world to hear my story. But now I just feel like I'm saying the same stuff over and over again. Not sure if thats what people want to hear? I have not looked for anouther site and only post here, just not as much.

In all honesty I stopped posting here because of you.

I made several posts regarding my difficulties with Parnate and one of its side effects. I described how, due to all of their discomfort/unfamiliarity with the MAOi class of drugs, my primary care physician, my psychiatrist, and my cardiologist were all passing the buck around to one another about how to best address the situation.

Considering my side effect was a mild-moderate elevation in blood pressure during the period of 1-2 hours after taking a dose of Parnate, I found some research articles discussing successful treatments for this situation through the use of antihypertensive drugs.

Since all my care providers seemed to be at a loss at what to do, I was seeking information on the pharmacodynamics of the various antihypertensive agents so that I could try to provide them with some suggestions, since none of them seemed motivated to look into it themselves.

Despite my lengthy, thoughtful, detailed, and what I felt was a responsible and proactive attitude in the message I posted on the forum, you replied with a message something along the lines of "you are playing with fire, you should see your doctor."

I mean, I had just explained that the doctors weren't addressing the issue and I was suffering as a result. Your response was harmful, first because it was necessary in that it provided nothing substantive to the thread and second because it was pretty dismissive of my situation and feelings.

Your posts constantly attempts to garner sympathy from the forum members and to ask for help and support. And in return, your actions were appauling. Now I read this message, wondering where people are, and in then other messages you are complaining about how doctors don't care.

Well, you aren't the only one that has these experiences with difficulties in getting treatment. I've suffered from depression for all of my adult life (18 years) and have been through every class of drugs, without long-term remission. I have suffered and currently am suffering deeply, but yet I still made every effort to preserve the dignity of the members whose posts I chose to reply. If I couldn't offer constructive input, I didn't reply with obnoxious responses as I felt you did in my case.

In closing, I'll just point out that many of us suffer. You aren't the only one. How about spreading the same kind of the compassion that you wish you were receiving?

In all due respect when experiencing a problem this severe to give med advise according to my RN training is subject to license loss. Always taught to tell anyone whether neighbor or friend, to contact a doctor. With the incidence of strokes and other complications of MAIO's seeking another doctors opinion would be the best advise and legal that I could give. I'm sorry though sorry couldn't help you. Hello and goodbye. The Babble experience is not a new one, I'm afraid.
