Parnate and Coffee - is this anxiety or what?

Posted by violetdream on March 30, 2012, at 10:24:43

Let me preface this by saying I live in Seattle, so giving up coffee is not an option ;) Also, I don't even necessarily drink coffee every day, mainly just when I go out to meet friends.

I noticed that the first time I went out to get a snack and meet someone on the Parnate I had some bad effects. I had a small latte and some pastries which should have been fine. However, later I started feeling dizzy and intermittent tight feelings in my chest and arms. All this may have been exacerbated by the fact that this is the first time I went out on the Parnate and I didn't know what to expect, AND my blood pressure monitor was spazzing out and reporting incorrect BPs that scared me.

The other day I was getting frustrated that it seems like every time I eat something I get at least some mild negative effects before I realized it's mainly when I go out to eat and coffee is combined. Last night I had a medium sized coffee and for the next few hours had the light headedness and chills.

When I make coffee at home I don't have these problems, I think, so I'm not sure what's going on. Is there a way to build up tolerance to this problem by continuing to drink coffee? Or will it just get worse if I increase the dose? I'm still not entirely convinced that a lot of this is due to anxiety over eating the wrong thing when I'm out.

I've heard that coffee and caffeine should be fine in reasonable amounts, which I don't exceed, and also the Parnate so far has not had any kind of amphetamine like effects for me, I have been pretty groggy. Tea hasn't had these effects for me so far.

parnate can have a real speedy effect, mostly causing insomnia. They say no more than 3 cups of coffee a day. For me, that's a lot more than I usually take. If I meet friends for coffee (which I do a lot, I generally just order an herbal tea.
