parnate chills

Posted by n_shrimpie on February 26, 2012, at 9:59:30

I took Nardil for about 7 years, but the weight gain was intolerable so i'm considering a second trial of Parnate, which I stopeed the first time because I had such bad chills and hypotension (passing out constantly) on it. Is the chills a side effect that abates over time and is there anything I can do to limit the hypotension?

I never had chills, but did have bad hypotension, especially when waking in the middle of the night to use the loo. It went away eventually, but it took several months. Our bathroom is right next to the staircase and my husband put a childguard on the staircase so I wouldn't tumble down the stairs if I fainted.

Although I've just started, this is my second time on Parnate, I was taken off the first time (about two years ago) because of fainting spells, but I remember having chills the first week or so and it going away rather quickly. This time I'm in such a bad place that the chills and feeling faint are somewhat pleasant distractions from the painful deadness of my current life. It does seem to help to take caffeine pills in the morning, to always get up extremely slowly (easy enough when you're really depressed), and to always keep a cozy sweater handy.
