Once upon a time I took Wellbutrin. It nearly killed my desire to smoke cigarettes and drink coffee. However It also made me anxious and restless.
I am now on Effexor 150 and Lamictal (starting at 25mg) and am finding that I am drinking and smoking alot more than I usually would. But, I am feeling more focused and less depressed especially when drinking coffee. I also feel very social and feel like I am able to converse and express myself better verbally.
So my question is: Do the two have anything in common with each other? If they do should I ask my doc if adding wellbutrin back is a good idea?

I experienced same as you too stimulating. I'd stick with the coffee. Both are stimulants. At least you can control the coffee if you know what I mean the strength and amount. Phillipa

I'd just drink the coffee and try to keep the cigs to a minimum and/or take a bunch of high potency antioxidants to try to mitigate the damage.
Your call, of course--it just doesn't sound your wellbutrin experience was all that pleasant.

Wellbutrin is prescribed as a smoking cessation aid under the brand name Zyban.

Wellbutrin ruined my taste for coffee. Actually could not enjoy a cup of coffee. I missed it and I am still getting my taste back. I think a couple of cups of coffee makes for a good mood lift.

How interesting. TCAs made coffee taste metallic - could not drink it. And when starting an MAOI I had a similar taste aversion. I now don't have the metallic taste but can drink copious amounts and it has no stimulant effect.
I think dopamine and caffeine matabolism are somehow related.
