Should I see a doctor?

Posted by Deneb on February 23, 2012, at 7:43:15

I started feeling sick yesterday morning. I just felt bad, very tired and nauseous. I couldn't find anyone to cover my shift so I had to go to work. I started getting this fever and my body ached. I was very unproductive. When I go home I found out my temperature was 100.7. Which isn't too bad I guess.

I was woke up with a really sore throat. The tissue at the back is all red and swollen. It hurts to swallow. I might be a bit dehydrated because I haven't been eating since afternoon yesterday and I don't like drinking because it hurts.

So I know that nothing can be done if this is a virus, but should I got to the doctor to rule out a bacterial infection? I still have a fever of 100.9.

Yes - just a brief visit for a throat culture to make sure you don't have strep

I called the nurse healthline and the nurse said it was likely a viral infection and that I don't need to go to the doctor.

I hope I don't have mono or cancer or something. :/

My temperature actually rose a bit. It's now 101.2. Is this good or bad?

My fever is gone now! Yay!

But I woke up with my eyes all crusted up. My vision is blurry from this white mucous from my eyes, especially my right eye. It feels bad. I kept picking out the gooey mucous and made my eye red. Now it feels bad and it's still making mucous.

I also now have this horrible cough that sometimes sounds like a barking seal or something.

Also my ear got scratchy and now my ear canal is all oozing with this sticky clear liquid and crusty. I scratched it some more and then it got bloody.

I can only see the doctor for one problem at a time. What issue do you think is the most important? Which issues can I just ignore?

I'm thinking my eye mucous issue because it's making my vision blurry and it is super annoying!

I woke up unable to open my eyes! OMG. They were glued shut. My right eye is worse. It's puffy and pink.

I'm thinking I may have pink eye or something. My mom is totally convinced that my latest illness is because of having too much "heat". She said I got the eye thing because I didn't drink this herbal tea she brewed and the sore throat because I didn't suck on this dried plum thing that her friend got from the hospital in China so it must be a miracle fruit.

Anyways, I called the nurse line we have here and the nurse told me to see a doctor in 4 hours. I just hope I can, seeing as it's Sun. :/

Oh well, wish me luck.

You probably have conjunctivitis, but it's rarely serious. It is often viral and usually improves within a few days whether you get antibiotic eye drops or not. See your doctor if it gets worse or doesn't improve soon.

Well the doctor saw me for 30 seconds and wrote me a prescription for antibiotic eye drops. Wow, she was fast lol. The clinic was busy though.

I filled the rx at the pharmacy. Omg the pharmacist is so hot! Lol I look like a mess with my swollen pink crusty eye. I got a consultation with him. Lol.

Then I go to McDonalds and he is there too on his lunch break.

Make sure you use the eye drops as prescribed as sounds like pink eye which is highly contagious. Bet you were rubbing eyes when sick and bacteria got into the eye. Keep a watch on the cough I hear bronchitis is rampant this year all over. Phillipa

I got Garamycin drops. They're used for ears too apparently. The pharmacist said they are pretty strong.

My eyes were still crusty this morning, but at least they weren't glued shut.

I still kind of feel down in the dumps. Very tired. I haven't been this sick in years.

Ugh, I have to drink this tea because she says it will cure my cold. I don't believe in that stuff at all. She says I have too much "heat" and need to drink this bitter tea to cool down.

I'm kind of concerned about what exactly is in this "tea". I don't trust anything from China. They sell toxic waste as food.

I'm forced to drink this tea though, my Mom wouldn't leave me alone until I drink it. She says I will be cured after drinking it a couple of times.

I wish my parents weren't so ignorant.

Mom seriously believes that sucking on a dried plum will cure my sore throat and drinking this bitter "tea" will cure me of my virus.

That plum had something else in it, it tasted like methol. Who knows what other toxic medicines it has infused into it? I wish I didn't have to eat this weirdo stuff. Chinese foods have like no standards. If they can put poison into baby formula, they can do anything.

Well I ate that dried plum and my throat is still sore, explain that? LOL I'm sticking with Halls to soothe my throat.

I have like absolutely no idea what the heck is in this tea. This is not good. Maybe I should say I can't drink it because I'm not supposed to take herbal meds with my SSRI's or something.

Ugh. I wish I had normal parents. Mom especially. They're so uneducated! Seriously, she will believe anything chinese medicine says. She slaps herself every night before bed. It's so f**k'ed up. She read somewhere that that is good.

She's also been rolling this hot bottle of water on her stomach. It's so hot that it caused a permanant discolouration on her skin there. That seriously cannot be good! I wouldn't be surprised if her skin cancer risk is increased in that area.

Oh and Mom is one of those people who will complain if she goes to the doctor for a cold and doesn't get any medicines. You can explain that colds are caused by viruses etc, but she just does not get it.

Sorry, just a bit peeved that I have to drink this disguisting tea!

I worked yesterday and everything was fine. I just felt a bit weak and my voice wasn't the same, but I was OK.

Today started OK too, but then I suddenly got severe abdomenal cramps. I got all sweaty and nauseous from the pain. It was horrible. I was in the bathroom for a long time. Then I came out, only to rush back in again to throw up all on the bathroom floor. I couldn't make it to the toilet.

It's so embarrassing. My manager told me to go home.

I'm so sick of being sick! OMG. I even had a nosebleed yesterday. When will this end? Sheesh!

Right now I have this barking cough. Who knows when that will go away?

I had pizza for lunch. I'm kind of scared of eating right now. I don't want to get sick. Pizza was probably a bad choice for sicky me though.
