I have been taking Latuda for three weeks. Two weeks at 40, one week now at 80. I feel better/worse. It's no way to live. I try to see med trials through and reign in my impulsiveness. I also dislike failure because it can mean facing 'no answer' again.
However, I am going to call my pdoc and ask to withdraw. Three weeks is long enough, you think?

It would be for me.

I think it depends on the problem. If its mood issues short of full-blown mania, I'd say yes. Antipsychotics are tranquilizers, after all, so if you're not getting calmed down enough after a few weeks, or you're too calm, or you're having sides, then let it go. If you're hearing voices, it can take a while for things to subside. When I started neuroleptics after a long episode of psychosis, it took over a month before the voices disappeared.
There are plenty of other neuroleptics, old and new, to try. If you're not psychotic and/or otherwise hospitalization-level crazy, there are also options outside of the neuroleptics that may be worth considering (many of them are considerably cheaper and lack the TD risk, too).
Good luck.

Yeah. Flat as wall paper but oddly irritated. Saphris was just tranquilized w/o agitation. This is too much medication for me.
I really feel lost right now. Of course I'll withdraw. I am just getting up the courage to call my doc. I am so dull. After this, maybe I can just air out and do nothing. Just my other meds. Thanks for the replies.

I think you need a better plan than that. That strategy did not work very well in the past, did it?
I apologize for not remembering that you already tried Saphris. My memory still ain't the greatest.
Perhaps we could be of more help if you were to make two lists:
1. Symptoms
2. Drugs triedIt is just a thought. Don't feel pressured or obligated to write anything.

It's okay Scott. I think I could use some time on familiar ground. I did o.k. on 0.25 mg of risperidone. It addressed micro fluctuations in mood and thought. It turns out I see my doc tomorrow, and maybe I could return to something like that.
I wonder if I will find something to address the larger shifts, especially the ones into depression. These last two aap's didn't help that way. Not that I am up for brainstorming that here and now. I'm wrung out. Next, I imagine, would be to try a modest amount of lithium. Too much medication knocks me over.

That's what happened to me the one time on seroquel. I just couldn't take an ap too strong. So the doc switched back to benzos quickly. Phillipa

And you can't go back to a low dose of Saphris now, can you?
That seemed odd but par for the course also.

I don't know. Probably not. At least it felt good before things went bad. It was weird. And I could sleep. Maybe a lower dose. I was going to bring it up tomorrow.
This is the end of the thread.
