Got Me Worried Writing Skills

Posted by Phillipa on January 1, 2012, at 12:08:04

Well I guess Ocd anxiety is unrelenting if something isn't wrong boy I can create it. So todays drama for me is why as posted from others are my writing skills deteriorating? Is it age, meds, lack of meds or what. Have another small medical problem that soon will be blown out of proportion by me. I'm the creator of this so what do I do. The higher dose of lexapro isn't helping. So it obviously has to be me. Thanks Phillipa

I don't think your writing style is the result of any neurodegenerative process. You write the way your write. It has not changed at all since you first arrived on Psycho-Babble.

You can take more time composing your sentences if you want. But if not, that's okay, too.

You have nothing to worry about.

Scott I used to be so articulate. And I'm building to a panic level as see I didn't realize that I'd already submitted this and posted again below. But honestly a screen said did you wish to not post this when I posted this thread. So I posted it again. I do have a new computer that I'm trying to get used to maybe a setting isn't right don't know? Now I'm embarrased. Thanks for answering. Could you come over and cure me? Pretty pretty please? Jan/Phillipa tired of being undercover with silly make up names.

Philippa, in several threads you have been expressing increased levels of distress and anxiety. It seems from what you have written that the anxiety is free-floating, and can attach to trust issues with your husband, going out alone, or worries about your health or writing skills. That is a horrible way to feel that many of us can empathize with. In one thread, above, you said that it may all relate to issues of trust and abandonment related to how your mother treated you, as well as to her illness and death; you were thinking that perhaps something in your present life is causing these feelings to be more severe.

Can you discuss this whole situation honestly with your pdoc?
You may well need some medication adjustments, or a change in meds. Would you be able to honestly talk about your fearful feelings with him? I know that trust in thapists and also finances are big obstacles to getting therapy, but could you use your present pdoc for at least a little bit of therapy? From what you have written, seeing him helps you feel better and do more outside for at least a short while.

Many people here on Babble care a lot about you, and would do anything they can to help, but the Internet in this format is unable to function in a psychotherapeutic way - see Dr. Bob's warning about that, above. Really good information can be found here, and there are friendly relationships between posters. But we all need both a skilled pdoc and a therapist we like and trust in order to get better. Sometimes those two functions can be performed by the same person - as in the examples of Deneb and Emmanuel98.

that you said he was older. That means he has a lot more training in psychotherapy than most of the younger ones do. Why not talk it over with him and, if he does also function as a therapist, give it a try at whatever frequency you can afford? If he takes Medicare as a therapist, you may be able to get as many as two sessions a week. This could make a big difference for you.

Twinleaf you are absolutely correct on all of above in message. I don't think he does but will ask again as he said something the first time saw him that he's used to seeing patients only about every three months. We stretched it to six weeks this time from four? When I asked about a therapist he said there are threapist group practice next door. Also ran into a therapist I'd tried here for a year and she said most of the older therapists here were gone and new young ones working. She and I did not hit it off well at all. All I can do with new pdoc is ask right? Thanks for your concern and astute observations. Jan/P

Sounds promising. Let us know if you find someone. I meant that the older psychiatrically-trained doctors know more about therapy than the younger doctors. Now the ones who are most skilled in therapy have PhDs, PsyDs, MSs etc. just find someone you think you can build a good relationship with. Although I felt horrible at the time, I Interviewed four, and knew right away when I had found the right one.

You demonstrate better sentence structure here.

Nice.

Just a hunch - try a male therapist this time.

That sounds right to me for some reason. I'm not sure why.

Scott first thanks for the compliment on sentence structure. I admit sometimes write without giving proper thought to what writing or sign off in middle of post and add a ps. That is definitely poor sentence structure.

Twinleaf a male and Scott a male makes perfect sense as I've always gotten along with males better than females and most friends in real life have been males. Good advice!!!!Jan/P

Twinleaf for the life of me I know when you changed your name I knew you from here and old name is gone and once before I asked you the same question. Nerve wracking. But I know you are a lovely person. Jan/P
