The GlaxoSmithKline site on Lamictal lists muscle pain as a possible side-effect that may indicate Lamictal-caused meningitis. I have had a series of sleepless nights from pain and am going to call my doctor first thing tomorrow morning. I am taking only 100 mg for seizure control for the last month. Works so far but I don't want a brain inflammation.

Yes I'd also call your doc. Have you had seizures long? Medical condition? Welcome see you are new. Phillipa

The symptoms of meningitis are: headache, fever, chills, nausea, vomiting, stiff neck, and sensitivity to light. Stiff neck is the classic - and most specific symptom of meningitis. It is a very, very rare side effect of lamictal. Although severe muscle pain is listed as a possible side effect, I don't think it is associated with meningitis. However, it certainly warrants a call to your doctor. Have you been taking Lamictal very long? Was it titrated?
