Phenobarbital Withdrawal

Posted by ajax1 on August 18, 2011, at 10:33:00

Hello all
I've cut down a longtime Xanax use to 20mg Valium and dropped down to 10 Valium. I've now been using 90mg phenobarbital a day, for 12 days to get off the final bit of Valium. It should work from all my research. My question is, after 12 days of low pheno use, will I have w/d from that.
Thanks

Isn't phenobarbitol much stronger than the others the benzos that is? Why the phenobarbitol? Do you get seizures? Phillipa

I don't get seizures. Phenobarbital is sometimes used to get off benzos. I had cut way down on my benzos and used the pheno as the final way out. Now I'm 9 days without Valium and the peak withdrawals have passed (I could slightly feel them despite the pheno.

Try Nuerontin after the phenobarbtial. But take it in high dose like 800mg X 3 daily. I was on that for a long time. It lifts your mood. But it doesnt have any sedation that sedatives produce.

aj1,
I am unsure as to what is all involved in our situation. If you could post answers to te following, then I could have the opportunity to respond accordingly.
A. What is {longtime} xanax use?
B. Is the phenobarbital prescribed?
C. If so, what are the directions from the prescriber if they are different from what you are doing.
D. What research advocates the use phenobarbital to use in withdrawal from BZDs?
E. Are you aware that phenobarbital can cause death in withdrawal from it?
F. If you stop the phenobarbital, and withdrawal synptoms appear, could they be from the pheno or the Xanax?

Friends,
If you are considering using phenobarbital to withdrawal fro a BDZ, let me tell you that there is a continuing body of evidence regarding as to if one could or could not benifit from using phenobarbital as a way to withdrawal. There is also a large body of evidence as to if using phenobarbital could or could not open up a host of other problems including life-threatening issues.
So if you are swayed to use phenobarbital in a way to withdrawal from a BZD, then it could be to your advantage to research the issue on your own, for your life may or may not depend on knowing such. There are prohibitions to me here from the administration that keep me from posting what IMHO could save your life or prevent you from getting a life-ruining condition that could include phenobarbial in relation to withdrawal from BZDs. There are prohibitions from the admin hhere that also keep me fron posting what has been revealed to me that IMHO could lead you out of the darkness of depresssion and addiction into a marvelous light of peace amd joy.
You see, I know a lot of stuff about {nerve agents} and mind-altering drugs and addiction. I know the chemical consequences of phenobarbital and that barbituates can kill. I know that barbituates can be highly addictive. And I have had dialog with the UK benzo withdrawal group. You could look that group up and see what they say about the use of phenobarbital in withdrawal fro a BZD.

Lou
I used the Ashton method as prescribed by most benzo groups. I quit 25 years of xanax and crossed to valium 20mgs. I've taken a year to get down to 7mg and was just tired of the time it takes. At 7mg it's no big deal to cross to 90mg phenobarbital a day for 11 days. It certainly isn't a fun drug and when I quit, I had no w/d problems. I still have slight w/d from the valium and that could go on for months. I had encouragement from the people at benzo.org uk. Several moderators had dropped directly from high doses of xanax directly to pheno. It's out of fashion now, but it still can work.

Friends,
If you are considering using phenobarbital in withdrawling from a BZD, be advised that the chemical structure and manufacture has benzyl cyanide related to it. The process is also used in the making of methadone.
I am prohibited by the administration here from posting educational material related to phenobarbital as it could be related to the proibition to me here. But you could research on your own the chemical proerties of phenobarbital and its historical uses related to cyanide and mass murder and how cyanide kills. Then you could have more information to make IMHO a more informed decision as to take phenobarbital or not.
There were an estimated 42,000 deaths last year from psychotropic drugs. I am researching how many of those were related to methadone and phenobarbital. You see, cyanide was (redacted by respondent) and I am not allowed to tell you that here even though I think that you knowing this information could have the potential to save your life.
