withdrawls bad for the brain

Everytime I come off even 5mg of amitriptyline, I go into a nasty spiral of psychological craziness. I can't help but thinking I am really messing my brain up each time I do that.

well, amitriptyline was given more or less for a sleep aid. I can't stand taking it every day, well, cause I hate the stuff and it wacks me out.

I hate it too, I came of it due to chest pains. took it for about a month only 10mg . I had horrible withdrawals from that. The doctors tried to say it was a problem in my inner ear, i had dizziness, vertigo and brain fog lasting longer than the actual trial of Ami. I take it you have tried nortiptyline.

Yeah I had nasty withdrawals from just 7.5mg nortriptyline after only being on that about a month.

That's what scares me about new trials. If it doesn't work out, and it usually doesn't, the exit door is harder than the entrance door. It is a very deceptive trap when we start a new pill. I think the risk is worth it when it works. But it usually doesn't. And then it sucks to get out.

I don't think it does actual damage but I do think it adversely or maybe even permanently impacts things like gene encoding, receptor sensitivity, and who knows what.

I have a feeling that a progressive increase in the severity of withdrawal symptoms upon sequential drug trials is a kindling phenomenon.

If those things do happen, they sound like some kind of damage to me.
