zyprexa induced enzema?

Posted by huxley on July 14, 2011, at 0:51:19

I have it all over my arms and my trunk.

It began ever since I discontinued Zyprexa and got consistantly worse with each drop in dose.

Anyone had any experience with this?

Zyprexa has strong antihistamine properties, so it could have been masking an allergic reaction.

Why not try

1. Taking an oral antihistamine such as Zyrtec every day

2. Applying some 1% hydrocortisone to the rash two or three times a day

Inresting that you say this because at each dose reduction it flares up in new areas so it could well have been masking it.

I also highly suspect lactimal because that caused all sorts of rashy skin problems.

I have some prescription cortisteriod creams.

There is some (sketchy) evidence of itching/hives/rashes upon withdrawl of antihistamines, so it would be well worth seeing it an antihistamine such as Zyrtec produced any benifit.
