Nortriptyline Withdrawl- how long??

Posted by Laney on March 22, 2011, at 9:54:58

Hi guys!

So I went off the Nortriptyline. Didn't think I would have any withdrawl. But low and behold! Anyway, anyone have any idea of how long it lasts? I have irritability, negativity, head pressure, feeling of general unwellness, etc.

I went off of it pretty fast. Probably was on 50mg. 75% of the 9 months I was on it and 25% at 75mg.

I didn't do a cold turkey but it was pretty fast. Like starting from 75mg. Went to 50mg. for a week, then 25mg. for a week, the off.

Any input grateful!

Laney

Was thinking of you yesterday and wondering if a break from paxil for a short time might kick it into working again. As for the nortrip? No experience with TCA's Hoping someone with knowledge jumps in. Phillipa

When I took Tofranil-PM my doctor did a pretty quick taper. My withdrawal problems lasted about a week, maybe a week and 1/2. Tofranil is in the TCA family, so maybe there's a similar time frame for withdrawal issues.

There's no way to tell for sure. Based on my own experiences and others I've witnessed here, it will probably be a time period of 2 to 6 weeks for things to tame down. The longer you are on a med, the longer to readjust after stopping it.
