Hi Guys,
My insurance will not cover brand name medications. Even though Nardil has been around for over 50 years, the market is not large enough to justify the expense of bringing out a generic in the US. Thus my monthly bill for Nardil alone is over $150. This is on top of my $700 per month insurance cost(self employed) and countless other medical, dental and optical expenses. It adds up fast.Does anybody know a source where I can legally buy phenelzine for a lot cheaper. I use 180 15mg tablets monthly. My MD does not have a problem writing the script. I have bought other medications on prescription from Canadian on line pharmacies. I'm sure the actual product came from a lab in India.
If I could switch to some other medication I would. I have been on 45+ different combinations of psychotropic medications. Phenelzine is the only medication that works for me. I have tried to come off of it at least a half dozen times in the past 12 years. Within months, my major atypical depression always returns.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hmm, what I can say is that Nardelzine (should be the same as Nardil, they are both Pfizer) costs 33,50/box of 100x15mg in Belgium. That would be something around $45/box I guess. It wouldn't be huge savings, but you would be sure you'd get the original product.

Jedi just wanted to say hi and so glad it's still working for you. In the vein of that thought you might want to try and cut costs somewhere to continue it. And boy do I know how not being able to afford something is. I totally relate. Phillipa

There is a generic in the US now made by Gavis. I use it now; it's at least as good as the brand name.
