Wellbutrin Zoloft Combination

Posted by a_nicholson1980 on October 28, 2010, at 16:40:22

Hi,

I was curious to hear about experiences with the combo of Wellbutrin and Zoloft (low dose on the latter). I've heard pretty good things about this combo. I'd like to know if the two work synergistically together? Did the Wellbutrin truly help to counter the usual ssri sexual side effects? Also, did the addition of the ssri help to decrease the anxiety typical with starting wellbutrin? My trial with Milnacipran wasn't very successful and I'm trying to figure out what to do next. I'd really appreciate any input. I'm a guy and I'd be taking this for depression/mild anxiety. Thank you!

p.s. if anybody has had success with a specific med taken daily with Wellbutrin to counter the anxiety please let me know.

What happened with the Milnacipran?

I don't know if the sertraline would counter any anxiety effects from bupropion start-up. It often has its own initial anxiety or restlessness associated with initial dosing. Maybe if you were already established on a dose of sertraline? Or maybe a benzo might help during the initial phase?

I'd like to know the same thing...anything anybody has taken daily with Wellbutrin to counter the anxiety. I take Ativan , and it does help some but it doesn't help with the body tenseness and agitation part of the anxiety.

I had an ongoing problem with bupropion causing body tension when I was taking it with citalopram. I was never really able to ameliorate it with anything I tried.

Are you still taking Wellbutrin or are you taking something else now?

That was a long time ago. My story between then and now is long and sordid. Currently taking a combo of sertraline and nortriptyline. Never have found something that worked well for me these past 20 or so years.

I take: Wellbutrin, zoloft, zyprexa, perphenazine. I don't find the zoloft counters the anxiety from wellbutrin. But, the other 2 do. zyprexa and perphenazine.

I take Celexa with the Wellbutrin but I don't think its a great combo. Doesn't help enough with depression or anxiety. Trying to find another SSRI to try with the Wellbutrin.

How much perphenazine do you take? I'm on 12 mg and my p-doc would like me to cut in back because of potential s/e's. Is 12 mg a lot. They put me on it in the hospital, but last year when I was in the hospital, they put me on 36 mg which made me logy and caused really bad postural hyptension, especially in combo with parnate. I was getting up in the morning and my BP would be 80/50.

I take 12mg three times a day. Its a medium dose. High would be 16mg four times a day. Hasn't affected my blood pressure. I don't get any side effects from it except tiredness. Which is not bothersome, I actualy like it. At first when I started it I had some shakes but it has gone away. That side effect was probably from abilify, that I used to take.
