Lofepramine (Gamanil, Tymelyt, Lomont) Experience

Posted by bearfan on September 30, 2010, at 15:43:04

Anyone here have experience with Lofepramine? It's a third generation tricyclic that is suppose to be the most tolerable of the group yet just as effective (much less toxicity and anticholinergic side effects). I had a pretty good experience with Tofranil, but the side effects were too much to continue. My Doctor is open to drugs that are available in Canada, but this one seems only available in the U.K. and Australia only.

Yeah, I found it helpful for a while. It's a bit constipating and it does cause sweating and increased heart rate but overall the adverse effects were mild. For me, it is much more tolerable than other TCAs. It is not sedating and the anticholinergic effects are certainly much milder than most TCAs. Although lofepramine is metabolised to desipramine, lofepramine is much less toxic in overdose than desipramine.

Thanks, although I don't have a prescription yet. Haven't talked about it with my doc. Apparently its like imipramine without the bad side effects. Is there also a place where one can get it as a supplement? Or with a online doctor rx?

I've never taken Lofepramine, but peoples experiences seem to be generally positive.

I can't find it on any online pharmacies, I have looked.......

ChemistDirect is one of the UK's largest online pharmacies.

Please note that you would need a prescription from an EU registered doctor. Prescriptions from the US are not valid in the UK.

I've never heard of that company before. I'm not sure what/who they are. You could telephone and ask them what they need.
