Cogentin: Does blurred vision go away with time

Posted by Tomatheus on September 27, 2010, at 19:02:48

I am wondering if anyone with experience on Cogentin (benztropine) can tell me whether or not the side effect of blurred vision gets better with time. I'd rather have a tremor than blurred vision, so I'm probably going to discontinue the medication unless I have some reason to believe that the blurred vision will become less severe.

How long have you been on the med already? I took it and I didn't have that side effect. I found that magnesium help as well with the tremor I had ... not as good as cogentin, but it did help.

I've been on Cogentin for about a week, and my vision's been blurred for three days now. I'll definitely consider magnesium for my tremor if I do go off the Cogentin. Thank you for suggesting it.

I got blurred vision from cogentin. Its not as bad on a lowered dose, so I take half the prescribed dose. I have not realy noticed the blurry getting any better and I've been on it for 3 years or so. It does not bother me much so I still take it. I was on geodon once and that made my vision so blurry it was imposible to see. Had to stop taking it. Currently I take 1mg cogentin a day, split in half.

Zyprexa,

Thank you for your response. I stopped taking Cogentin as of yesterday, and my vision is still actually a little blurred. I might consider taking a lower dose of the medication as you've done at some point in the future, but for now I want to see how permanent the blurred vision is without the Cogentin.

When I stoped the geodon it took a while for the vision to go back to normal. Don't remember how long, but it might have been months.

Zyprexa,

Thanks for the info. I'm sorry to hear that it took a while for your vision to return to normal after you stopped taking Geodon. Thankfully, my vision seems to have returned to normal as of today.
