Anyone have experience with Paxil CR to know whether it has any benefit vs regular Paxil? I took Paxil way back in 2000 for about 6 months and discontinued with horrible shocks in my head that continued for several months afterwards. A few months ago, I took Pexeva (paxil with a different salt) for about 2 months and I didn't get the shock like sensations or the same carbo cravings as I did with the original paxil IR. The delayed orgasm of Paxil was still bad though. Anyone know what CR has to offer vs the other two?

I guess you haven't had any luck with any other SSRI? I think Paxil is one of the worst SSRIs, next to Luvox.

Now I really know I'm wierd as those are the only two that did work for me. Took paxil l0mg as first ad and worked well for two years then weaned off in two weeks as didn't need it. No weight gain either. Just call me weirdo!!! Phillipa

The 'brain shocks' are normally an SSRI withdrawal symptom. If you are very sensitive to this effect, withdrawal symptoms may occur between doses with a short-acting SSRI such as paroxetine. Taking paroxetine twice a day eg. 10mg bd would be an alternative to taking Paxil CR. To be honest, given your previous experience with it, I think it would be better for you to avoid paroxetine altogether.

Worst SSRI in what respect? One thing that it has going for it is that it has the most approved anxiety indications.

I liked that it helped relax my muscles. When I took the original form of paxil back in the day. My pdoc said he couldn't even tell that I suffered from anxiety. I was making progress with Pexeva, and probally would still be on it if it wasn't for me running out and having to wait on my insurance. Paxil, and its various formulations, have the most FDA approved indications for anxiety based disorders than any other medication on the market. That has to say something.
