I'm currently tapering celexa from 20 to 10mg and risperdal from 2 to 1mg. Today is day four and is the worst by far. I have a dizzy headache and nausea. My stomach seems very jittery. An hour ago I felt like I was going to jump out of my skin for about 10 minutes. Now I feel ok after drinking a protien shake. For some reason eating carbs helps. Last night I went out and binged on a greasy value meal. That's the first time I have done that in 4 months. I recently lost 30 pounds. I'd really hate to put all my weight back on during this taper. I've already gain 5 pounds this week
My biggest fear is that only four days in my body is just starting to detect that it isn't getting it's usual doses. What will 7-10 days out feel like. Does any body know about how long it takes for this stuff to balance out. I fan hang in there if this is the worst of it. It's worth it to get down to a smaller cocktail and reduce and have fewer sides, but I don't want to out myself through anything to rough.
I tried a low dose of tyrosine today which helped with the energy and body aches but I think it made me mire jittery. I may just have to sweat this out. Anybody's experience with ssri or antipsychotic tapers would be very appreciated. Please send good vibes my way.

I never had the least problem with an AP taper. My p-doc would tell me to taper off, but I never would because, in every case, I stopped due to rapid weight gain. I would just stop cold and never had any sort of withdrawal effect at all.

You probably should not be reducing two medications at once. Many doctors will say - one change at a time. That way, if there are side effects, you will know why. Perhaps you should keep one medicine at the current level and get off the other. Then wait a few days and taper the other.

I thought this myself but I took my doc's advice to do both at once. He said risperdal blocks dopamine and serotonin so by reducing it along side the celexa I'd be getting some "feel good chemicals" back while experiencing the dip from less celexa.
I really respect my doc however there have been a couple of times over the years where I believe he has made light of how powerful withdrawal can be. I felt this way last year when I got off trileptal and all he said during our emergency appointment was "it's normal to feel a bit more reactive during a med change" but I feel most pdocs have treated me this way.
Thank you so much for both of your feedback. It feels good to have support.

I suppose this is beside the point, but why are you withdrawing from your combo?
