emsam day 4

Posted by Elanor Roosevelt on June 19, 2010, at 14:10:01

the emsam is definitely making me more impatient (which i expected at first)
breaking through my sleep despite the klonopin
i have no desire to leave my house or talk on the phone
leave i must this evening for an industry-related event
but if i had my druthers i would hole up

almost forgot to mention this
i have swollen ankles since starting the emsam
called the pdoc and he didn't seem to think it was emsam-related
it's obviously not in the literature
any personal experience out there with the same problem?

it's been very hot and i always do a lot of walking but my ankles have not swollen up since i was pregnant 19 summers ago

Good luck eleanor, I hope it goes well for you!

I'm on day 4 of Emsam, don't think I'm gonna stay with it though.

Parnate will be next. Enjoying some Annie's AGED CHEDDAR creamy mac n cheese while I can...

Good luck again.

I took a day off from the emsam yesterday
back on it today
the change from klonopin to ativan appears to be positive--not waking up in such a cloud
will up the dose next week

Tom
enjoy your aged cheddar cheese
i ate small amonts of cheddar cheese when i was on Parnate to no ill effect

why don't you think you will make it with the emsam and how long a trial will you give it?

Glad the ativan is working, and that makes sense as it's shorter-acting than klonopin.

How are you doing with the emsam now?

Lol, I switched to Parnate the day after I posted that. The emsam was good, the thing about it that I didn't like was the l-amphetamine metabolite. I was on adderall (3/4 d-amp and 1/4 l-amp) for about half a year, and each day on the emsam was bringing back bad memories. Dexedrine and Vyvanse (pure d-amp) were so much better for me.. I knew I would never be satisfied being on l-amp so I decided to just move on... and bequeathed my personal stash of white cheddar popcorn and pirate booty to my little sisters and made them the rest of the Annie's for lunch :-/

But hey, cheddar or happiness and sociability? No-brainer for me. So glad I can at least have mozzarella!

Today is day 4 on parnate.

So why aren't you taking parnate anymore, and why emsam instead?

my physical fatigue and remaining depression symptoms are causing a great loss of faith in any solution
my blood pressure is low so my pdoc is taking me off my bp med and "expects" this may help me recover some energy
i hate the waiting
i worry i am wasting my time/life waiting for the emsam to work

for now i'm going through a "meds s*ck" stage which leaves me with no hope

Tom,more info please

Would you explain more about the emsam vs parnate differences in terms of energy and sociability?

emsam week 4 will beg my pdoc for a change

the aches and pains and depression and teariness
this is not working
and my pdoc screwed up on my script so i am making due with klonopin instead of ativan and that is making it worst
i wake up every f*cking morning with immediate thoughts of what a loser i am

I wanted to take parnate as i knew i would lose weight if i dieted (as we all know this is not possible on many meds) and bc my joints and muscles would fee okay to work out

i don't know if i trust my pdoc any longer
is it wise to ever trust them to start?

For me MAOI's are the only "true" antidepressants. I have tried all the others and can only call them "mood brighteners", with the exception of Cymbalta which came very close to an MAOI. I would be on them now but I choose to keep my ability to keep procreation over depression.

ER, what happened to you and emsam? (If I read this thread properly)

Did you increase after four weeks, and if so to any benefit?

Thanks.
