Hi,
I don't sleep really well on Remeron.
So I would like to augment with another drug.I have tried Remeron plus Seroquel.
But this isn't a good combo.Perhaps I could switch to trazodone.
I would appreciate all comments.Best regards,

He also thinks Trazodone XR would be better than immediate release. Does it exist yet? I'm not sure.

I take 30mg Remeron and 100mg Seroquel. I sleep OK, but not great. It took a little while to acclimate to the Seroquel. I also take Effexor XR.

Benzos are what work for me for over 40 years. Remeron did nothing for me either. Phillipa

Zopiclone still works ok for me if I have trouble falling asleep.

yeah, for me remeron is 'meh' as a sleep aid. Sometimes it works sometimes it does't. Its pretty hit or miss. Anything that worsens my depression usually stops working as a sleep aid. Remeron did not help my depresion much.
Amitriptyline was a little more consistent, although it has more side effects. I do like the idea of low dose doxapin, or better yet trimipramine. You could probably augment this with some gapapentin or zopiclone. For me, tryptophan usually lowers the effective dose of a benzo I need when I can't sleep (usually by a half or more). I have been experimenting with just tryptophan and benadryl.
Melatonin works for me on the days when I don't have to do something significant the next day, such as weekends when I am not teching, but it doesn't work for me during the week.
I have a theory, that the brain is trying (the night before) to prepare itself for the next day. If you take something that counteracts that adapative shift, it will not help sleep. If you take something that facilitates that shift (whatever it may be) then it will work.
For instance, on days that I need to be assertive, melatonin will not work the night before as it tends to make me wimpy the next day, so my brain tries to counteract it. In contrast, benzo's seem to help sleep on these days because the next day they make me a little more outgoing.

Better to take a sleeping pill like Imoclone/imozop than using ad's for sleeping. It's typical psychiatrists using powerfull and potential ad's as sleeping aids instead of using more harmless and simple agents.
