I want to cry

Posted by Maxime on February 26, 2010, at 12:26:46

I started Lithium about two weeks ago and I really want off this medication. I am only on 600 mg right now. It makes everything taste weird. Combined with the same side effect from Nortriptyline, there is not much that I can eat.

I also think that the lithium is doing some weird cognitive stuff is going.

I want to cry and I need hugs.

Maxime here's a hug((((Maxime))))). I thought lithium was neuroprotective. Are you not tasting like I haven't in over six years. It's the most horrible thing that can happen. But are you emotionally feeling okay? Love Phillipa

Sending a (((hug))) to you.

I hear ya. Lithium can be hard to get used to. I hope the best for you as your system adjusts to the drug.

Lithium is .... I would say to some people, it's a nasty medication.

Maxi, ask about Ativan, i think it may help with some anxiety, I would say Xanax but it lasts too short and docs are strict about it even to those who truely need it.

Hugs

I recall that lithium wasn't too kind to you before.

Sorry sweetie. Are you able to taper off? Do you have another stabilzer in mind?

((((Honey))))

Thank you

Thank you for the hugs and understanding. I think I may have to go off this med. I certainly can't go any higher so it will be interesting to see what my levels show at 600 mg a day. I'm thinking of going back on Trileptal since that worked before. I just have to make sure it goes with the Parnate.

Thanks again.

Still hating this med. It's making me all jittery and now I have a tremor in both hands. I see my pdoc on Friday and will ask him if I can stop taking it. It is not even helping with my mood swings.

Maxime, you have tremors at 600? That's awful. Do you need to wait until Friday? Can you taper down a bit? (I appreciate working with your doctor; I just want you to get relief ASAP, and Friday seems so far off.)

Have you been sleeping?

Hugs!

Hi FB, I am just trying to be med compliant for once and not stop the med. I have a tendency to take things into my own hands. On Wednesday I am getting my levels check, maybe after that I will go back to 300 mg. I remember this happening to me the last time I was on lithium. I was toxic on really low doses.

Sleep? Not happening I am afraid. Maybe 2-3 hours a night. Although last week I went 4 nights straight with no sleep at all. The purple faery dust doesn't seem to work anymore. :-(

The same thing happened to me too Maxime. I had bad edema and had such bad tremors I couldn't type. The mouse would literally shoot out of my hand.

:( Side effects suck.

Well, maybe the sleep faery can fly over your house. She's been on vacation, so no wonder. I think your place might be on her way home.... And she has lots of colors!

((((good night sweetie))))

(Med compliance is good. I've finally realized that myself.)

The sleep fairy did come by and I got 5 hours of sleep which is a lot for me. Hopefully she will fly by tonight as well as I have a lot of catching up to do on sleep. :-)

Yes, she must be rather busy with all those teeth. My son has his first loose one!

How are you doing with the lithium? Were you able to drop down?

Green faerie dust for St. Pattie's?

Chamomile scented hugs,

I went to see my pdoc yesterday and there was note on his door saying that he had been in an accident and unable to see patients. I hope he is going to be okay.

I stopped taking the lithium yesterday. I felt so ill on it. I really wanted to stay med compliant, but since I couldn't see my doctor I can't do it. I know that it was helping me but I gained 18 pounds in one month of being on it. It made me so HUNGRY. I want to go on Trileptal instead but I guess I will have to wait for my doctor to return to his practice.

I've been sleeping well the past few days because my mum is in the hospital and I have been running back and forth between the hospital and home that I am exhausted.

Thanks for caring. I don't know, I have never used gree faery dust. Maybe it would work as well as the purple. I should try it. :-)

Goodnight everyone. xoxo

Maxime, that's awful news about your doctor. I imagine someone will care for his patients for the interim. I'm very sorry. Do you think you'll know something by next week? It'd be good if you didn't have to wait too long to try the Treliptal.

I'm glad you're sleeping--and sorry to hear about your mum.

Hugs,

fb

Thanks FB. I just received an email from my pdoc ... he is in the hospital with a broken hip. I am glad that he emailed me because I have been very worried about him. He said he will start seeing patients in about 2 weeks. I can wait that long. In the meantime, I have stopped the Lithium completly. I feel a lot better off it and I am not retaining as much water as when I was on it. Now all I have to lose is my Nutella weight since the Lithium made me crave carbs and I put on 18 pounds in a month. Very scary for anyone, but especially scary for someone with an ED. :-(
