Been taking Prozac 10mgs for three weeks.At first it gave me the jitters and had to use clonazepam
to ease the side effects.For the last few days I have been getting bad panic attacks.Is this an effect of the Prozac? I started taking Prozac for GAD and panic.It seems to be making it worse.How long before Prozac kicks in to stop panic and GAD?

Has it been three weeks already. Good for you for bearing the anxiety. Hummm all I know is that when prozac first came out I was fine took low dose xanax sometimes none and working. My pdoc asked me to try this new med I figured why not took 20mg for three days first day great immediate response, day 2 anxiety, day 3 sheer panic. I stopped the med and had to take extra xanax to stop the panic and then was fine. That was the end of prozac for me. I wasn't depressed why be miserable? I got Listening to Prozac at the library today remember reading it years ago. I'll take a look tonight and see what it says. From the first ad I've never been me again but then thyroid came at same time and lymes and menopause. So Chicken and egg syndrome. That's me now you what's your doc say could you cut the dose down lower? Phillipa

It could be. For some 5 Mgs is enough.
Take a look at this link it mentions how a lower dose can help some with less side effects. But you should talk to your doc. You may find in a couple weeks it passes without adjusting your dose.

Hence that time tried it at 20mg and three days later constant panic the doc begged me to take it every three days I said no and was glad I did. Phillipa
