Does anyone take a mood stabilizer and ADD med? Do they counter each other?
So far I am doing good on the 150mg Effexor (except for some jitteriness). Sometimes it makes me agitated so I am also taking low dose Depakote which seems to work.
My doc also wants me to try Vyvanse since the Concerta bothered my bladder. Hopefully the Vyvanse won't bother me.
Will the ADD med counter the effects of the Depakote?

I don't think that these drugs antagonize each other pharmacologically at the same sites.
I don't know what are the net effects of this combination of drugs. I think it probably depends on the dosages used. If you give someone enough Valium, it will certainly counter the alerting effects of amphetamine and put you to sleep, even though these drugs act on different neurotransmitters.
Actually, it has been observed that amphetamine can have an antimanic effect for certain people. So, I don't know that taking amphetamine will always produce mania, especially with the Depakote on board.
Since there is no obvious competition for receptor sites with these drugs, and your doctor is willing to experiment, you might as will give it a try.
Maybe Linkadge can shed some light on this situation.
