Has anyone used 5 mg of Lexapro instead of 10 mg?

The 10 mg makes me so tired during the day even though I take it at bedtime. Has anyone used only 5 mg successfully? Thank You

I used 10mg of citalopram instead of 20mg and it was a better trade off for me.

Seeing as lexapro is the active metabolite of citalopram (i.e. 20mg citalopram = 10mg lexapro) there I think that half a dose could be effective.

I found no difference between 5mg and 10mg, except lower side effects at 5mg, so I stayed at 5mg.

One of my doctors prescribes Lexapro in liquid form because he has some patients in remission on just a drop (about 1/8th mg), and others on 1mg to 5mg. The trick he says is twofold:
1. Frequency...despite the halflife, it needs to be dosed about every 6 hours.
2. Time...it needs longer than the clinical trials to fully work.
