Wellbutrin + Pristiq?

Posted by SheilaC on November 16, 2009, at 9:04:19

Has anyone added Wellbutrin to Pristiq? I like Pristiq, but since taking it I have no desire for sex. And if I have to have sex, I get no where!

Are there other meds that would help combat this side effect?

I know this can happen with ADs, but I have taken them all and it seems worse with Pristiq. Yet Pristiq helps my anxiety and depression the best.

Need help!

It's a combo worth trying.

That seems to be what some babblers have tried. Phillipa

Shelia, the combo did not help me in that dept., but it might work for you--and you don't really need to go through protracted increases or tapers to try it.

There is also viagra, that works for some as well.

I'm so glad you're getting relief for the anxiety and depression.

I thought viagra had been tested and hasn't worked for women? If wellbutrin doesn't help, you could take methyphenidate prior to having sex.

You may very well be right. I know it hasn't worked for some women. I thought it did, though, for some. My mistake. Don't know the med you mention.

Methylphenidate = ritalin

It might be hard to get a script for that for sexual dysfunction though.

Oh. Can it be used like viagra, on an as per needed basis? Maybe a pdoc or even a gp would give an off label use or amount just for that? Esp. if they trust the patient will not abuse.

interesting. Thanks.

It can increase sexual desire, arousal, and orgasm intensity a few hours after you take it, but like you said it is abusable so your doc may be against it. A psychiatrist might try it though.
