parnate withdrawal - blurry vision?

Posted by g_g_g_unit on November 7, 2009, at 0:06:44

i'm still dealing with blurry vision a week after stopping parnate - like that feeling you get when your eyes are tired, and you gotta rub them to focus. i'm getting scared. my first day off it, i had full-body tingling, a kind of 'wooshing' in my head, and this blurry vision. the rest have gone expect the visual problem.

the rest of the symptoms have gone including my mind/spelling capabilities - jesus - i mean "except the visual problems" obv. not "expect".

also, i would not normally ask here, but my pdoc is on vacation. in addition to the depression returning, i'm freaking out over this ..

Hi,
I know I had blurry vision ON parnate for a day or 2. Coming off it- I really don't know why that should happen.
I did look it up but found only one site that mentions blurry vision as a withdrawal symptom (but I don't know if its at all a trustworthy source because it is trying to make few bucks out of those who are having difficulty withdrawing). But at least it's mentioned as a withdrawal symptom....

Not sure.
Hope it goes away. As long as it is not getting worse or anything, probably it's just withdrawal.
Keep us updated though.

Take care
Love D

I imagine it must be very scarey and to have your pdoc away is unsettling. I wish the best and keep posting someone should be able to answer the parnate questions. Phillipa

I would imagine that it would take a couple of weeks to lose all withdrawal symptoms. That is a scary one to have. I wish I had some answers for you. When do you start the Nardil?

thanks Maxime. it's mainly in my right eye. thankfully, i had my eyes tested two weeks ago, so if the worst comes to the worst, i can have my eyesight evaluated again. i don't know about Nardil yet. i'm getting weary of the sledgehammer approach.

i went to see an eye doctor. my vision is still blurred in my right eye, but she couldn't detect any abnormalities, other than noticeable inflammation in the eyelid (which she puts down to allergies, so .. fingers crossed).

I'm glad you went to the eye doctor and that she didn't find anything abnormal. Allergies is certainly a possibility.

I read that MAO-A is necessary for adequate digestion, so if an industrial strength MAOI puts most of it out of action, it seems all manner of side effects could occur, such as weakness, sore muscles and joints, difficulty concentrating etc. I'm only guessing. It is possible to measure the MAO-A level in a platelet test, but not in NZ I don't think, but MAO-B is more relevant and the level of that only shows up by a spinal tap, which I gather is an unpleasant experience. Driving MAO levels down to zero, while impossible really, sounds insane. Can anyone more knowledgeable comment? Thanks Fred
