I took a big step today and went to a place that helps people with mental illnesses find jobs. It was a lot better than I thought it was going to be in terms of the types of jobs they can find for you. I will be working with the organization to find a job since I can't seem to find one on my own. Anyhow, it was hard for me to go and I felt a lot of stigma just going, but I felt better afterwards.
Hopefully I will have a job by the time my Parnate is working 100 percent.

It really was a big step for me because I found it humiliating at first. But you gotta do what you gotta do. I know that I can't live off Welfare, that's for sure!

The stigma of mental illness gives that feeling but I am glad that you were able to reach this point.
Whether this was a charity or state or county agency, it doesn't matter, I'm glad there are programs like that out there.
I believe that's one of the things that NAMI advocates for among a number of other ideas.
I've heard of county programs here where, as you noted, if there isn't specific job placement, it is to go through training to speak as an advocate as someone who has gone through or is still facing illness and can also get some monetary benefit by doing this too.
-- best wishes
