Anyone tried and are continuing to take memantine for ocd/gad/depression? Many thanks for your thoughts!

was on it for a few months at varying doses. don't think it was a net positive for any depression / ocd symptoms. definitely not a magic bullet.

as monotherapy, i found it pretty benign. it also caused some problems with short-term memory formation. i wonder if it might be better as an adjunct (most of the OCD studies have it added to an SSRI). i think i'll try it again with parnate

I'm not sure long-term success stories exist. I think it's one of those meds that offers possibly initial improvement, followed by subsequent decline back to baseline or below, accompanied by possible cognitive side-effects (i.e. brain-fog). This was my experience, anyway. See also: Lamictal.
Never read of a success story beyond a few weeks. Maybe we'll have more success with these glutamatergic drugs when AMPA-modulaters are developed further.

Interesting about AMPA receptors. Can anyone put this article into laymans terms? It seems that zinc modulates glutamate or do I have it wrong?
