Help for sleep?

Posted by SheilaC on September 3, 2009, at 15:56:04

I've been taking Tegretol for a week or 2 now and it's working out great. But, it doesn't make me sleepy.

I hate taking Seroquel at night (even though it knocks me out cold) because it does cause some swelling - like all the other atypicals do with me.

Any suggestions on what I can take on a regular basis for sleep?

Pretty soon I will bump up to 200mg of extended release Tegretol, but I don't know if that will make me sleepy or not.

Klonopin relaxes me, but doesn't help me sleep.

Trazadone is a good sleep aid, but it's an antidepressant so I don't know if you would have a reaction to it or not. Have you ever tried anything like Lunesta or Ambien before? Both are good meds.

Yes, I like Lunesta, Ambien is a really wacky med for me so I stay away from it. One Ambien and I am drowsy for 2 days.

When did you take your Tegretol? In the AM or PM?

Not sure if my doc will go for me taking a sleeping pill every night.

Eplivanserin will hopefully/probably be available in the 4th quarter.

Thanks, maybe if I bump up to 200mg and take it at dinner I will be sleepy. We'll see.

What dose did you say you took? Sorry, I should look through the previous posts because I'm sure I asked you this already.
