Does anyone know if Anafranil / clomipramine is effective in treating severe panic disorder?? I'm going through hell at the moment with severe panic. I'm current taking Zypreza Velotab - 15mg along with 40mg buspirone, 150mg Effexor and 600mg of lithium. But the combo just ain't helping. I though the Zyprexa would help but it's really let me down. In the past i've also tried:
All of the SSRIs
Remeron
Amitriptyline
Amisulpiride
Quetiapine
Haloperidol
Stelazine
Sodium valproate
PromazineNone of the above has really helped. I can't take benzos as I've built up an addiction to them through taking to much Valium.
Would Clomipramine help severe panic? I really don't know how much more of this I can take.

30 years ago, imipramine was considered to be effective to treat agoraphobia. I imagine clomipramine would be even better.
For panic disorder in the absence of agoraphobia, I don't know what the current thinking is regarding the use of tricyclics. Again, I think your choice of clomipramine would make the best choice of drug in this class.

It's good for OCD but heard from an old poster didn't help anxiety at all. Not that is only one person. Phillipa

Hi,
It has helped my anxiety which was constant (not panic attacks) but I'm very tired on it. It took over five weeks for it to start helping with that general anxiety.
