Update on Geodon: WOW! I feel great!

Posted by jerrypharmstudent on August 2, 2009, at 14:34:18

So I was on Zyprexa 5mg for about 6 weeks but gained WAY too much weight so my NEw Pdoc switched me to Geodon 40mg BID. Well, it's been over a week now and I have to say that this is probably the best I've felt in a long time. Motivation is up, feelings of well being are up, mood is up, anxiety is non-existent. I'm pleasantly surprise by how fast the Geodon has worked and with no side effects!!

So here's my med regimen:

Lexapro 30mg
Geodon 40mg BID
Adderall 20mg TID
Klonopin 1mg QD (and I barely take it anymore)
Ambien 10mg hs

I actually feel as if I don't need the Adderall as well! I'm just so thankful this is working for me!

Looks good, Jerry.

Interestingly, a friend of mine also has added Geodon to an ongoing treatment that includes Lexapro. Here experience was the same as yours, AND her improvement has lasted well over a year with no signs of pooping out.

Stay well.

Jerry - did you feel sleepy when you first starting taking it? What times of day did you take your doses?

I tried it for about 5 days and I was exhausted. I really needed it to give me a boost, but I just never got it. I thought maybe I wasn't taking a high enough dose. I started with 20mg once a day then 40mg once a day. I took mine at night because it wiped me out. If I took it during the day I think I would have slept the whole day away.

Maybe if I took a higher dose I wouldn't have been so freakin' sleepy?

I take one dose at night and one in the morning. The first couple days I was sleepy in the morning after taking the dose -but it went away quickly. Somewhere I read that between 40-80mg is the "sweet spot" as far as therapeutic dosages. I think I also read that at certain dosages Geodon can be activated while at others it can be more sedating - but I can't remember what the dosages were - sorry... :(

Good to see doing good, Geodon is it an antidepressant.....? in some aspect's?, Zyprexa clear's the thinking alot. Geodon produces thought clear, yet it blocks some thoughts that usally came natrual. Take 160mg of Geodon, 10mg of Zyprexa. Xanax XR 2mg.
Was on a diffrent reginme, about 1 month ago, meds are tweake'd, for just the benefit for health. Prozac at 60mg too. Just have to go with the flow.

Glad it's working.

Is that a low dose or a high dose geodon?

Lowest dose is 20mg BID. I believe higher dosages are in the 180mg range.

Well, the doc did raise my Lexapro to 30mg and that COULD have a hand in quelling my anxiety - but I think it was/is the Geodon for sure.

Thanks!
Jerry
