On Zyprexa Again

Posted by morganpmiller on July 23, 2009, at 22:07:02

I'm on Zyprexa again and feeling miserable. I think the p doc at the inpatient care unit lumped me into the general population of bipolar episodes and treated me accordingly. I tried telling him how much different I felt than the first time I admitted myself, but I'm not sure if he really got the message.

So now I want to know more about Zyprexa and other's experiences. The first time I was on Zyprexa I did not crave things the way I have been now. I also did not gain weight so quickly.

The first time I very hyper before being treated with zyprexa and depakote. I also was working out 5 days a week. This time is different.

I left the hospital feeling as bad or worse in some ways than when I entered. I left the hospital feeling much better leaving the hospital the first time a year and a half ago.

I am so frustrated. I think there is so much more going on with me and these A Holes treated me the same EFFING way. This is BS! Psychiatry truly is in the Dark Ages.

Morganmiller I'm so sorry you were in the hospital had wondered where you went. I agree that psychiatry is definitely in the dark ages. Hope they gave you good care though. What if I may ask triggered the admission? Love Phillipa

Are you on a higher dose this time of zyprexa? That could be the reason.

I'm on a higher dose this time. And, last time I was on the hyper/agitated side, where as this time I was low energy/agitated. Last time things were very different. I had a major mixed episode last time. I was unable to sleep more than 3 hours at a time. I was hardly ever euphoric if ever at all. I felt very agitated, had racing obsessive thoughts, and could not stop moving/pacing. It was a complete nightmare. This time was very very different.

Last time Zyprexa and Depakote alone did not do the trick. I was o.k. for the first month I guess. Honestly, I don't think I will ever function normally and feel good again unless I have an antidepressant in the mix. Right now I feel like I am trapped in a body that won't do want I want it to do. Kind of like those dreams where you cannot run or talk when you really need to get away from danger.

Sounds like the zyprexa is working for you! Sounds like you are on the right dose of z now. I never had much benifit from Depakote.

Umm, Not sure you understood what I was saying about zyprexa. I mean I am having difficulty just talking in a normal way about normal things.

Besides, as long as you sleep well and feel good, I do not believe in totally controlling manic behaviors through meds. I feel those need to be worked on through therapy and self control. I can't imagine how boring this world would be if all the people that exhibited manic behavior were medicated to the point where this behavior was completely abolished. Comedians, actors, some athletes, go by by.

Just out of curiousity, if you don't mind telling, how much Zyprexa do you take?

Thanks man. Yeah I had success with Prozac before so I thought it might be kinda nice to go back to what worked so well for me the first time I was ever medicated. Then again, I was on Zoloft for 7 years and did pretty damn good also.

I just said F*ck it and took 25 mgs of some zoloft I had left over. I can't wait for this new p doc I'm seeing to make the decision. I swear I feel better already. He may decide to put me on Zoloft, he may not. He may choose Prozac, who knows. He better put me on one of the two or I will be looking for another doc. I know my brain and body. I cannot function at a high level in the long run without an antidepressant.

I think 10 mgs of Zyprexa is too much for me. It's been 2 weeks and I still feel sedated and out of it. I'm taking it at night also. Oh well, I will talk to the new guy about it as well.

Thanks again
