Hello,
four weeks ago I upped the dose of Remeron to 30mg and added Lexapro 10mg. For depression, panic attacks and anxiety. By week three I felt better, had no panic attacks and I had the urge and energy to do something, and I actually got more done in one week than the past several months. After that I started to oversleep, 12hrs at night + a nap in the afternoon. I have cut back on Remeron to 15mg to see if the sleepiness goes away.
But, the lack of energy, interest and motivation are gone. I have no impulses, just dreaming of being rich and that kind of reality escaping thoughts. Now, is there any point in upping the Lexapro dosage to 15-20mg? Or should I switch to, say, fluoxetine?Thoughts, ideas are appreciated. Gonna call my pdoc at monday.

I would stay on what is working for now, no need to switch to prozac just yet. Though it does annoy me that doctors are prescribing lexapro like crazy and forgetting about great ADs like prozac. I tend to prefer Prozac and Zoloft to Celexa and Lexapro.
Upping yours dosage to 15 or 20 may help. I would talk to your doctor first.

Thanks for your reply.
My pdoc actually suggested fluoxetine but I turned it down because last time I tried, about 11 years ago, it did nothing for my depression. I did stay on it for a year or so though, because it stopped my panic attacks.
This is actually the first time I have tried Lexapro. Zoloft worked great a few years ago, tried it a couple of months ago again but did nothing, not for depression nor anxiety./Mattias

The lower the dosage of Remeron, the more sleepy you will become. 45mg seems about right for most people who are treating depression, although 75mg is not unheard of. I would go back up on the Remeron and work to optimize the SSRIs.

What about ditching Lexapro? Also remeron is stimulating in higher dosages and sedating in lower. Upping the lexapro dosage will give you less energy not more.

I guess I don't react the way most do to ads as lexapro created horrible anxiety and remeron at l5mg didn't make me sleepy. So I'd say call the doc. Phillipa

I just talked to my pdoc and I'm keeping Remeron at 30mg, and upping the Lexapro dosage to 20mg. Just wait and see now as usual.

Lexapro may have given you horrible anxiety by causing akathsia and inhibiting REM sleep. Why remeron wouldn't make you sleepy, I have no idea. Was it remeron or generic mirtazapine?

I think generic have a whole bottle here from about six years ago somewhere in the huge basket of unused pills why? Been gone all day sorry late reply. Phillipa ps seems all the ssris' snris even with benzos give me horrible anxiety. Saw the PA filling in for pdoc and she thinks as the pdoc horrible gad and to add .5 xanax during the day and said the valium doesn't last 24 hours just half life of 24 hours? Any thoughts on this?
