Cheap Scripts

Posted by Garnet71 on March 29, 2009, at 17:50:57

Ok-this looks like a spam message-but I'm not talking about Viagra.

I got 10 mg. Adderall x qty 60 for $26 with a AAA card. The AAA membership is under $30 a year. The other pharmacies wanted about $80-$90 for the same script.

The discount doesn't work for all meds; it all depends. What it comes down to is you have to call around to all the pharmacies.

AAA, like AARP, is taking over the country...It's interests are branching out to all sectors of society.

I may regret it, but I recently hopped onto the Walmart 90-day supply for $10 program. Two out of three of my psych meds are on their formulary and qualify for that price. It's saving me a heap of money as my insurance co-pay is significantly more than that.

On the whole I have to say that the psych meds that DO qualify are quite limited, while virtually every single cardio med one can think of is on the list.

Seldom.

Yeah, and I don't think controlled meds like benzos and stimulants are on any of those types of programs.

Yes. It's some sort of message of.....

"We [whoever *we* is] don't care all that much if you feel like crap (exacerbated by going broke trying to pay for your ADs on your own) and can barely get out of bed or care about doing anything, but damned if we won't make sure it's MUCH easier to keep your heart healthy while you're...ummmmm....feeling too depressed to do ummmmmm....whatever it is you want to do but can't!!

And "WE" [like I said, whoever....] have mental health conditions? Okay then.

Topsy-turvy thinking in our broken system...gotta love it. :-(

One of the reasons I stay on the regular generic luvox is it's free under my medicaire. Benzos not covered by anyone but found a pharmacy that is only charging l0 for both 30 supply of xanax and valium. Phillipa

Wow....those are Canadian prices. Benzo's are dirt cheap here. I think I paid 12bucks for a month of alprazolam (1mg I think? tiny dose anyway) few years ago. But unless they are reviewed and tested thoroughly by health canada you will pay through the nose here like in your country. Emsam patch in canada is equivalent price to american I believe...until the govt approval goes through...then it will go down to like 80 bucks a month...our govt takes the brunt of the costs for meds through our taxes....socialist med system - both good and bad to it.

So far so good on the walmart drugs

I have to admit, at that low price, I worried that the drugs were knockoffs or something.

The trazadone is putting me to sleep, and the prozac, well, I doubt I would notice a difference it accumulates and clears so slowly. I'll let you know in 4 weeks or so ;)

Seldom

Another good way to reduce the cost of prescription drugs is to request the highest dosage-strength and split the pill. A 20 mg pill, for example, will normally cost about the same as the 10 mg pill.

Seldom, and others

Which psychmeds are on the list at Walmart? Link?
Also Costco meds are very cheap, probably best low-price in CA. Getting script for large pills and cutting in halfs or quarters is a good way to save, ie. benzos and other expensive ones. BUT, you have to have a sharp knife (Xacto is best) and cut accurately. Pill splitters are good too, but get dull fast.

BTW "AAA" for those who don't know is Auto Club, right?

Yeah, AAA is that auto club.

Good idea w/the higher mg version Metric.

Phillipa, I didn't know controlled meds were on any of those discount lists?

Walgreens, various grocery stores, CVS, RiteAid--all have those discount lists now, but often the mg are rare dosages no one takes, so you have to ask your doc to rewrite the script accordingly. Some are $4 for 30 days; others like Riteaid are $9 for 6 days, or something like that.

Just Google-all the lists are published online for those phamarcies.

I use a steak knife to cut my pills.

This is a new pharmacy only owned by one so he will get the brands of meds you request and beat competitors prices. Phillipa

A List from one US pharmacy.

Here's a list of the generic psych meds that Walmart sells in their $4 program. The "30" and "90" mean 30 day or 90 day supply. The 30 day goes for US 4 dollars, the 90 day goes for US 10 bucks.

Rite Aide, Walgreens, Target and possibly others have similar programs.
