Anyone with problems prior military here?

Posted by Garnet71 on January 18, 2009, at 9:43:41

Hey-I found that the VA is studying/has studied vets for Gulf War syndrome-which has similar symptoms to some of us with neurological complaints...

They thought the effect of immunizations should be further studied; listed them as a potential cause.

For 10 years (I'm no longer in because of all my medical problems now), I had immunizations several times a year for the military (and of course repeats of all the ones I had as a child when I was in boot camp). I never had to take the anthrax, but did get the small pox one not so long ago. I wasn't in the Gulf War, but have that central sleep apnea, and so does my friend who was in the Gulf War. I'm wondering if the lack of oxygen has done something to our brains...

If anyone is interested, I can search for the articles again to post them. Don't have it bookmarkeed.

My Son lost his eyesight and two finger tips in the Gulf War. He is now actively after getting degree in College from military actively working for the VA in Washington DC and they do know of the Gulf War Syndrome. He's working on getting the benefits due you and other Vets and has multiple problems since the Gulf. Know a LT General who developed ALS from the Gulf on vent but still here. Son has A website on internet which is VA sponsored so vets can e-mail and get info. Babblemail for further info. Oh it's real The Gulf War Syndrome. So much is behind the scenes at this time hang on. Love Phillipa

Phillipa, that is so sad about your son. wow, I don't know what to say. That's wonderful, however, that he is working for the VA. My impression of the VA as an organization is good, and some of the best doctors I've known were military doctors.

Can you post your son's website, or is on the links page in this site? I'm not sure what you mean by babblemail..

I wasn't in the Persian Gulf war, as I mentioned, but my friend was and we have the same symptoms. My brother was too, was special forces and in that 100 hour ground war; he is all messed up but I'm not sure where he lives now.

I can think of a few other things aside from the immunizations and chemicals in the desert...I worked around aircraft-exposed to blasts of jet fuel extensively....also the chemical weapons mask and gear--I've had to wear it for many hours...hmmm.

What is ALS? It would be great to hear more of your opinions about this subject. Thanks :)

My Son is very biased toward this site and forbids me to discuss him or name him here hence babblemail is private. He was in 82nd Airbourne out of Fort Bragg first into The Persion Gulf during Desert Storm. Depending On Where you live I know three docs who are having success with Disability. Babblemail see my name in blue? click it a screen appears And like a sheet of paper. Here type me a message And I can get location of you and if it's okay with you exchange e-mails and directly send the link to you. ALS is Lou Gerhigs Disease. PTSD is also rampant and drug abuse and he also was forced to take innoculations. Many Rashes unexplained, muscle problems etc. Huge VA help in future. Love Phillipa most important with babblemail is go to the very bottom of the paper and click submit. I will check and see if your's is on.

Ok will send you babblemail if I can figure it out..lol.

Wow-my brother was also out of the 82nd in Ft. Bragg, and one of the first to go...he was in an Apache helicopter unit. Got pulled and put on a DART team - like a special team. I'm not surewhat that was, but for some reason I am thinking it had something to do with the Navy SEALs, although my brother wasn't in the Navy..

He has had many mental problems since, not that it is because of the war...a few years ago he locked himself in his room for a whole year and only came out to eat. He was staying at our Mom's. He is messed up in many ways that I probably shouldn't go into now..but no one knows exactly where he is now. It's so sad.

The referrals would be great.

Why does your son view this site in such a bad light?

He just does and doesn't believe in meds maybe slight bit of ativan if anxious. I have more than one website for you when hear from you and a newspaper article that explains Gulf War Syndrome written by a journalist in Norwalk, Ct where We're originally from and quotes my Son. Was in the Norwalk Hour the newspaper there. Love Phillipa as it's very real. Yes he was with the French Foreign Legion one of the first into Iraq did you know we were there two weeks before reported? CNN at the time was giving out too much info so they kept having to change plans.

Hi Phillipa!

Your son wrote me a really nice email, thank you. I joined the website and am joining his organization. I am very impressed with what he has done; the organization is very professional and appears to be a great resource for vets. It also appears to have a lot of staying power; it does not seem as if it was recently established- I got an immediate sense of permanency when I looked into the org.

I just replied to his email. Thanks again!
