Hi,
I have been reading here and occasionally posting for a long time. I'm mostly a lurker, but will post if there's a question that relates to my experience. I'm a little shy about posting.
Just wondering if anyone has any opinions about my cocktail or about abilify or luvox. I have either bipolar or schizoaffective. I take lamictal, abilify and luvox. I just switched from zyprexa to abilify and just added the luvox.
I suffer from apathy and lack of emotional engagement in life and am hoping a medication will help with that. I also feel reluctant to socialize because I feel people are thinking negative things about me. I feel some of the apathy is caused by my meds--perhaps partly because of my high dose of lamictal (400) but I've tried to reduce and can't.
If you have any input on my new cocktail of lamictal, abilify, luvox, let me know. Or anything about old med of zyprexa.

Well been on low doses of luvox for years. Seems my body liked the med with benzos. How high is your luvox dose? Tried lamictal wasn't bad but at 50mg excessive salivation rare side effect had to go off it. Phillipa

They are still tinkering with my luvox dose but I think it's supposed to end up around 200. What was your dose? Did you feel different with the luvox on board. How so? Did it make you hyper or have difficulty steeping?

First time I took it got to 250 and doc lowered to 200mg. I was also on chloral hydrate and xanax no hypomania was quite relaxed. Second time I thought even with benzos that I was slightly hypomanic for about two weeks as up early and raring to go which is not me. It only lasted about two weeks. Then could only handle low doses like 12.5 and 25 and today years later take 50mg with xanax and valium. Phillipa

How's the abilify going. I tried to switch from zyprexa to abilify, and lost my mind. I'm back on zyprexa, and never trying to come off it again.

It's a little rocky actually. While transitioning I'm still taking the zyprexa, but even so I am much more emotional. I don't really know if that's a good thing--like I'm more in touch with my emotions than if I were somewhat sedated with zyprexa--or if it's a bad thing like a little hypomanic and/or paranoid.
I do have to say I've gone many years on zyprexa so switching it could turn out to be a bad idea. I really hope I don't get wigged out because my life is complicated enough as it is and I can't afford to go crazy.
But enough about me. What about you zyprexa? In what way did the abilify make you go nuts. Can you tell me more about your experiences? Are you pretty happy with zyprexa? I guess your name says it all.

The name says it all!
When I started taking abilify I kept the zyprexa for a while too. Seemed to go ok at first. But then the zyprexa just stoped working and abilify went full force. I started getting tired all the time, not sleeping, couldn't function at work at all. I lost my job by the way. Probably due to the abilify. I knew things were starting to go wrong well before that and wanted to discontinue the abilify, but my doctor just kept pushing it. When I told him this he said lets try a higher dose, 30mg. I told him no. But kept taking the abilify at 10-15mg don't remember which. Anyways that was a year and a half ago. It has taken this long to start comeing around. I was taking realy high doses of zyprexa when I first stoped the abilify. It seemed like the zyprexa was doing nothing. I took as much as 50mg a few times, I was on 20-30 for the longest while, then 15 for a while and now I am finaly get 10mg to work again just in the last 2-3 weeks.
I was realy paranoid on abilify, I thought everyone in the appartment complex was listening to me thrue the walls. And talking about me. I got realy depressed.
I've tried all the AP's except for Seroquel and Haldol(may have had haldol in hospital, but don't know). None were like zyprexa enough to switch. Perphenazine was the closest, but not close enough. I still take perphenazine with the zyprexa and things are looking up.

Thanks for sharing your story. I'm sorry you had to go through all that. It sounds like quite a struggle. I've had times also where I've been very paranoid and it's not fun. And it really screws up your life! I'm glad things are looking up now.
I'll try to be careful while I'm trying abilify so that I don't have to go through what you went through.
