My problem/please help

Posted by shasling on January 24, 2009, at 4:28:05

Taking parnate now for quite some time i have worked hard to tweak and twist it to dose ranges, augments etc to get it to work well for me.

So now it does,BUT of course what comes to play is the insomnia.

Now heres what i explain to a close friend who trys to help me,...my depression is very sensative, meaning im very sensative to depressant drugs.

I can use a depressant as part of a parnate augment fine,BUT as i search for a sleep med the problem i have is this,....

Yess i need something to put me to sleep of course, however i dont understand how spending all day fighting depression off only to take a depressant at night makes sense for me.

The minute i take a depressant for sleep,i twitch my legs,i act up,i get emotional, many times i simply had to grab a single parnate at 12 am as the depressant i was using was causing me hell.

Right now my family and i are in total confusion on what to do for this, how am i supposed to attack my depression nice and early in the am which is when my meds best work when at 3 am im sitting at the table wide awake from parnate.

Why am i so sensative to deprssant drugs,my friend thinks its anxiety i have over a single experiance,i dont knoow, but i cant take one for sleep, and quietly drift off, rather i go into redzone.

Some have any ideas? Is there any actual any sleep meds that wont worsen depression when taken alone?

p.s also does anyone notice when parnate is working, they find themselves literaly not WANTING to go to bed, this is something im using will power over but if i dident id be a happy clam on the net all night till morning came and i realised how crappy i feel, now i go to bed the same time, not go to sleep, lol just bed.

Which sleep medications have you tried so far, and how did they affect you?

I never had a problem using Ativan or trazodone for sleep in conjunction with Parnate.

You should probably take 1/2 your daily dosage first thing in the morning and the other 1/2 no later than 3:00pm. You can take it as soon as 4 hours after the first dose. I took it morning and 1:00pm.

For me timing did make a difference in how well I slept. As the months passed, though, this became less critical. If the drug is helping that much, then attack the insomnia aggressively. Don't simply treat is as a side effect. Treat is as if it were its own disorder. It kind of changes the perspective on things. Stress to your doctor how you feel about this and the urgency involved.

Ive tried most of the single ones,i.e Rozeram/lunesta/ambien/xyrem all to no avail at all.

I had luck using a mix combo of very small doses of xanax, klonopin, gabpentin.Id take the initial dose and continue to add small increments of xanax
until i fell asleep. This combo died when xanax was not added anymore, hopefully that wont be the case but ill have to wait and see if ill be getting xanax back, but without it,the combo did nothing.

I also plan to try your recomdation on ativan,as for seraquel it works, but its just scary to me for some reason when i take it,not sure why.

Well before i go back to my combo ill try ativan, also i have one quick question scott,im also planning to add a very small dose of REMERON to my augment cocktail based on the fact ive have read many off label success with it for ocd.

Do you believe parnate would have any bad direct interaction with remeron in the same cocktail?

Hi.

People on Psycho-Babble have commented that there "shouldn't" be any adverse reactions to the combination, but I can't say for sure. I would wait for some more feedback from others.

Xanax has a small antidepressant action . Combining it with valium knocks me out although don't take parnate. And Greenstone is the generic made by same maker of the namebrand xanax I thin Phizer. And it is different it's the real deal. Try to keep it in your combo I've never raised it. Phillipa
