Hi to all!
I've seen on some post here that remeron was causing them "bad" or very "vivid" dreams. I am supposed to be taking the remeron for sleep and the dreams are so "vivid and constant" that I'm not really sleeping.
I have some seroquel here, do you think that would be better for sleep and help to stop the vivid dreams?
Will probably be starting parnate in about two weeks. Is it O.K. to take seroquel with parnate?
Just need some solid freakin sleep.
Thanks,
Courtney

Remeron gave me the most vivid lifelike dreams. I couldn't get over the emotional hangover from them during the day. So it backfired as far as depression treatment--I stayed depressed from the dreams! I think it's a common side effect.

Hey Raisin,
Yeah, that seems to be the same reaction I'm having, I thought this was supposed to help with sleep. But the dreams are so real and WEIRD and even when I wake up from them, which is several times a night, I can't seem to shake them. When I finally go back to sleep, the dreams seem to pick right up from where they left off.
So during the day, I'm totally wiped out. Think I'll be switching back to my 25mgs. of seroquel for now. At least I know it will knock me out cold combined with a zanax. Hope that doesn't seem to extreme, but I got absolutley nothing accomplished today at all. No motivation whatsoever.
My husband was shocked that I hadn't even taken a bath yet by the time he got home from work. Even on some of my worst days, I always at least take a bath.
It probably didn't help that I quit taking the trazadone the other night after not being able to get sleep on it either. It just made me severely fatigued and nauseous to the point of actually vomiting yesterday. So, I think I'm done with that med now too.
Scared as I am running out of options. Had thought about taking parnate previously, but wanted to try trazodone first. Not sure I want to bother with TCA meds. Not even sure what they are good for, but will look them up.
Thanks for your response.
Take care! Courtney

What dose of remeron are you on? Usually l5mg for sleep. I took it for a month once with benzos no vivid dreams. I've always had a sleep issue. Phillipa

Hi Phillipa!
I was taking 15 mgs also, so I don't understand what's causing the dreams. May have something to do with withdrawing off of lexapro. Who knows!!!
Thanks,
Courtney

That makes a lot of sense. Hope withdrawal isn't hard for you. Love Phillipa

well starting an MAOI will generally stop dreams, although you'll probably wake up during the night instead. i get vivid dreams i was using nicotine before bed, an anticholinergic might reduce dreaming; some antihistimines are anticholinergics as well, including some of the TCAs.

Hey ds,
I would just like for them to stop. Most are not so scary, just very, very vivid. Like the other night, I dreamt that I was Barack Obama's personal assistant and I was running around all over the Whitehouse. Another one was that we had a giant turtle (I mean huge) for a pet and he was trying to eat my dog and cat. LOL!!! (It was a really fast turtle.) And don't even get me started about the sexual dreams, OMG!!!!
I never started dreaming like that until I started taking Lexapro, but he had given me remeron also to help with sleep, so not sure what started what. Then after stopping the lexapro and remeron and tried the trazodone, dreams got worse, so who knows.
Just need a little peace.
Thanks,
Courtney:-)

absolutely
remeron was a lousy sleep med for me
structured quest-like sagas of dreams
never achieved a single quest
woke up frustrated, unfulfilled and not well rested

For some reason i can't ever manage to have sexual dreams, wish i could figure that out. I think the no dreaming might be the worst part of antidepressants.

I haven't had a good dream in 12 years since being on Remeron! Awful. I am so used to them now it is totally normal to me. Remeron's benefits when I am awake are worth it. :)
