Remeron dosage

Posted by X-ray on January 14, 2009, at 3:38:15

Hi,

I'm doing okay on 45 mg of Remeron in the evening.

I know that the recommended dosage of Remeron is 15 mg - 45 mg/daily.

However, I would like to try 60 mg of this drug in the evening.

Would there be any advantage to increase the dose to 60 mg?

Best regards,
X-ray

I've just been to see my doc.

For sleep there's no benefit to increase the dosage, the man said.
But an increased dose of Remeron might have a positive impact on the depression.

Since I'm on this drug mostly for sleep, I will stay on a 45 mg a day dosage.

P.S. I have switched Remeron/Buspar to Remeron/Fluanxol (flupentixol).

I stayed at 45mg until Remeron pooped out on me, after a year and a half. It was my best antidepressant medication to date, helped me sleep without additional drugs and also eased my anxiety. I wish it had lasted longer.

Good luck.

(now on Prozac every other day 20mg, and Xanax 1.5mg and barely hanging on. What a bummer.)

So you've never taken 45mg of Remeron - how would you know how if affects sedation? Hearsay can be a funny, funny thing. Just repeating what you've heard others say or read somewhere. I was on the stuff for, as I said, a year and a half, and didn't have to take a sleeping aid like Ambien or anything else the whole time, while it was working. That would seem to indicate that in my case, at least, it was helping ME with sleep. Also with anxiety. Not just working as an antidepressant. Some of these medications work on more than one problem at a time - it's quite wonderful. I think I posted quite a bit about it. Shame it pooped out eventually.

I was on Remeron 60 mg some years ago. i noticed a very distinct change in effect when going from 45 to 60 mg. It changed from being purely sedating to being very activating.
