doesn't scare me any. i like your name.
i didn't reply cuz i didn't really understand the question.
plus i'm not usually very helpful. my knowledge is mediocre compared to many on this site.

if your looking for a med to help with anxiety? or both depression and anxiety? wasn't sure.

zoloft was a good suggestion, i think lexapro is supposed to help too but that has bad sexual side effect. at least for me it did, and a friend of mine is on it (male) and bad for him too.

i think several people are Rx'd zyprexa too for those with depression and bad anxiety. before when i had really bad anxiety it seemed to really help with it. i noticed worse anxiety if i skipped a dose of it. but it is an AP, so its strong Rx if you are dealing with just anxiety.

Hi Manic666. Your name doesn't bother me. I didn't respond as I'm not sure what meds affect a man's libedo more than a woman's. For me Paxil, Zoloft and Lexapro were all good for anxiety and depression. They all pooped out on me, but that's just me. Zoloft was the gentlest for side effects.

I'm sorry you felt one of the responders to your thread was one of the people in the study. From what I understand the study isn't underway yet and I think we must take care that we don't assume any new poster is part of the study and treat each and every newbie with the respect and support we each received when we joined babble.

Hopefully a guy with some experience with the sexual side effects will respond to your thread and have more info than I can provide.

One thing I do if I need immediate responses is in the subject line put a big HELP or ADVICE NEEDED. That will alert posters that there is something going on that may need checking out quickly.

I know I'm babbling but my morning java hasn't quite kicked in yet!

Hey manic, first off, I ain't no thread spy! LOL.
Of all the ssri's, I've done best with zoloft. It helped with my depression, anxiety and ocd. I was taking 100mg for over 5 years and have just added zyprexa to help with my mood swings. I had a bit of startup anxiety with the zoloft, thats why I take clonazepam 0.5mg 2-3 times a day, it helps me get through any anxiety untill the zoloft kicks in and that could take 2 or 3 weeks.
I tried cymbalta about 2 months ago... I did not like it!
I do not have major sexual side effect from zoloft - 50 yr. male. Ya, every once in awhile I may have less sex drive but thats just part of my depression, I don't blame zoloft.
You know everyone has their own chemistry so zoloft may or may not be for you, I'd say give it a go and maybe a little clonazepam... if need be?
And goodluck with your upcomming hospital visit. Keep us updated.

Regards, Rick

Manic, what are you talking about? I'm NO thred spy. If you look at my recent posts, I had my own PDoc appt yesterday (Monday) I was worried he was going to take me off Parnate, MAOI's are ONLY meds that have ever worked for me. I was tired when I came across your post (taking Nafedipine, don't recommend it, off now) and I couldn't make sense of you post, I was too out of it. So, being that it said December for your visit, (I thought), I POSTED to you that I'd get back to you. Well my appts done and here I am. I'm sorry if I misunderstood. Also I've posted to you before and have never thought you, you're name, or your jokes were weird. Whats a thread spy by the way? I've been here for a couple weeks now. If your saying what I think you are saying the answer is NO. I'm gonna read your other post now. I hope we're ok? I'm sorry you did'nt get more posts when you wanted them.

OK Manic, I just went back and looked at my post to you. If that says "nothing" then why bother? I left it the night before my appt. At least I did respond, and was coming back as I said I would. What you said about me in this post wasn't nice considering I was trying to help you, and would have. And your post IS a little hard to follow. If you want to post me back I'll be happy to help.

Manic666,

I am sorry you are feeling like no one responded to your plea for help. I have felt that way before and it is awful. I saw your thread but could not read it as I had the worst week in a long time. I was all over the place. My t who is also my p-doc had just upped my wellbutrin and it made me feel stoned to tell you the truth. n.

After reading your post, I am not a man so I am not sure I would be helpful for the sexual problems. I am glad Rick posted his thoughts.

I do have anxiety, having panic attacks and I have taken cymbalta and lexapro for it. Cymbalta I took for a year, it helped with depression and pain, zippo for anxiety. In fact for me it increased it. But no p-doc, no meds for anxiety. Finally got off cymbalta and went to lexapro. It was too sedating for me. I slept for 12 hours solid only on 10 mgs. So now I am on
225 mg of wellbutrin and xanax for anxiety. Xanax works well for my anxiety and panic attacks and i am not addicted to it. I can go several days even weeks without it.

I will mention that if you feel like you need more advice for meds there is another site, in fact it is the site that recommended me to Babble. It is called crazymeds.org and they know a boat load about meds. Alot of good information in their meds section on each type of medication. Plus the topics in the forums. I have been a member of that site for as long as i have been at Babble since they are the ones that told me about Babble. Just so you have another point of reference should you need it.

take care, and good luck with your appt.

Sory Jade, I'm trying to adjust to my new med. I can say for sure, the "jade" is no spy thread. At least I don't think she is? LOL! J/K. Thanks again for your support.

Manic, Jade has replied to a couple of my post's. She is very kind and supportive. I don't mean to steer your post off course manic, I've been thinking about ya buddy, hope you do well with your med trial.

Take care everyone..... Rick

I just wanted to make note that the crazymeds site now has the suffix .us as its founder says the original domain names w/ conventional endings were swindled away. I sometimes lurk at their site, but haven't joined since I find some in leadership there very mean-spirited.

Hope you're feeling better, let me know what I can do!

oh you are right it is crazymeds.us. I am sorry you find them mean spirited. I have now been there for two years and don't find them that way at all. They aren't there for psych help. But if you ask legit questions about meds they have a wealth of knowledge. They were kind enough to direct me here for the psychology board and spoke very highly of Babble in terms of support.

When I posted there about some sensitive stuff for me, one of the founders jumped right in the support me.

I am sorry you did not find it so.

Nevertheless, as a lurker you can find a wealth of information concerning meds that you might not can find elsewhere. I have.

thank for wanting to help jade. an sorry about the misunderstanding, that thought was put in my head. sure you can answer me now i no you are one of us speicals, that what i call us, an normals are well normal ,the zoloft sounds ok, you see i have an addiction to lorazapam once 10 a day , now ony 3 the srink thinks 4. he wants to stop them when i do the c.b.t in jan, i see him in just over 3 weeks as follow up, an scared if he starts new med,an starts loz withdrawal at the same time i may be in the sh*t. the cymbalta never worked on anxiety even whent to 120mg soon back down im on 40 now he thinks 60, getting myself ready for change over if he makes onE. the cym as a little efect at low doses well it did its pooping now but i can sleep, there was never any real affect but never any deep deep depression so i cruised on, im afraid i took the easy way after having a real bad 2 years a small releaf was very welcome , even if not the answer.i have not much faith in my hospital team in england they are streched to the limit an up against a wall.
