withdrawal from lyrica

Posted by Melissa23 on October 28, 2008, at 10:04:39

Hi moviemom and others,

I am in the middle of a similar experience, where I was told to go off of Lyrica by cutting back 25 mg. per every 3 days until done. I ended up SICK. Nauseated, headaches, hot and cold sweats, really bad sleep, disorientation, dizziness, even some almost fevers.

I seem to feel best after a good exercise session, but its hard to get out to do it when I'm so sick at the stomach.

In desperation i tried going back up to 1 pill a day for about 5 days, which took away the nausea, and that's about it. So, I went off completely again last Wednesday (this is Day 7) and decided to ride it out until its over.

My question...has anyone done this, and how LONG did it take? I need to get my life back. I don't want to be drug-dependent, but I need to re-join work, family and life. Also, any suggestions for treatment? I"m basically using alka-seltzer, tylenol, pepto bismol, occasional fiorcet (for persistent headache) and diet coke (can't deal with coffee right now).

Thanks for posts from others. Makes me feel a little more normal!

The withdrawal effects lasted for about 2 weeks, but the first week was the worst. I think it was the worst withdrawal I have ever gone through and I have started and stopped MANY psych drugs in the past. I'm back on Lyrica now, so I know what to expect after I taper off of it. Not fun. I got a little bit of relief from taking Benadryl.

I hope you feel better soon.
