Paxil was the first med I ever took. It did work fairly well but really didn't kick in until about 12 weeks. Up until then it was pretty rough going for me. It kicked in very slow and subtle. No dramatic changes. They happened gradually over weeks in a way that was not noticeable day to day. When it did kick in, it did not bring me back to the person I was, but instead left me kind of emotionally numb to the world. Not depressed, but not alive either. It was nice at the time though to not be depressed any more.

Overall I think Paxil is actually one of the better ones. It is just that its sexual side effects, its weight gain, and its withdrawals I think kind of keep more people from using it.

Paxil was the ad I used also at 10mg and it took same amount of time about 12 weeks to work as that is when I stopped taking notes. I did have to take it with 25mg lopressor for anxiety and .5 Three times a day for anxiety. During start-up diarrhea and couldn't stay awake. When it worked I felt great And continued with the xanax . Took it for about two years no weight gain for me though. I also drank beer with it. Love Phillipa
