Vyvnase is having a paradox effect

Posted by rjlockhart04-08 on September 27, 2008, at 15:41:59

I take 2 70mg in morning.

Amphetamine is suppost to do the opposite (mental focus, awareness, keeps you awake)

I came home, i laid down and closed my eyes and went into one DEEP sleep, when i woke it was 7:45pm. I guess it was 2:30 when i laid down.

What's going on, Vyvanse is delayed relased d-amphetamine, but it causing me to fall asleep during the day. And i'm taking a high dose (140) which would keep anyone awake.

What is this, whats going on? i've researched and i can't find any articles on the net about "Vyvnase" causing sleepiness, "zoned".

Some help, i may switch to Dexedrine Spansules.

rj

Are you taking any other medications in addition to the Vyvanse?

Hi rj,

Always nice to see you around here :-)

Like Phillipa mentioned, could you have been extra tired? Has this happened a lot lately, or just once or twice? Just thinking....you've been taking this med for a while now at the same dose, if I remember correctly...? So....if the daytime sleepiness just started, could it be due to other things?

Are you getting a lot of quality sleep at night? Anything else changed recently that could make you tired....other medical conditions, other meds, eating habits, exercising more (or the opposite)? Life stress unusually high? I sure have been knocked out before just recovering from the stress of a hard work/school day!

Sleepiness can be a puzzling thing sometimes, just like insomnia.

What leads you to suspect the Vyvanse?

I'd say it's cuz you've built tolerance to it. Once ive built tolerance to a daily dose of amphetamine, after even 4 hrs i can fall asleep easy, which is when the delayed release is supposed to be still active.

I'd say it's cuz you've built up tolerance.

I read all of your posts. I do stay up late at night and get up about 8:00am in the morning. So that's about 5-7hour sleep.

But even with a full nights rest, i still would go into these "sleep" like a concrete was over my eyelids. And i dont know what in the heck that is. I know for a fact, its NOT Narcolepsy.

But i started Dexedrine Spansules today, 15mg X 2 in the morning. I took it today, i will tell you it is VERY diffrent than Vyvanse.

Dexedrine works immidiatly, you feel the effect, and focus usally happens in about 45min after ingestion. Vyvanse was unpredictable, it sometimes would start working at about 2 hours after ingestion. Crazy, then only last 6 hours. So thats only 4 hours. Its suppost to work "10" hours. My doctor told me some patients have the problem, its because of the L-lyrosine that attathed to d-amphetmine. And plus Metoblism...could be irratic.

So, Dexedrine Spansules, at least i know when its going work, and wear off. Vyvanse would sometimes lasts too long into the night.

Thanks, sleep was a problem. But i got it taken care of, still i thought i was "sleeping" on it during roads.

Thanks to You ALL!

RJ
