D-Cycloserine and Social Phobia

Posted by christophrejmc on July 11, 2008, at 23:21:37

I've been interested for quite some time about D-Cycloserine's use in phobic disorders, but the hype seems to have died down the past couple of years. Has anyone here tried it yet? There were a few glowing reports of success as far back as 2003, but very little since.

There is still studies and trials going on here in Australia at the Uni of sydney.. that's about all i know about it. I would love to participate in the trials going on but it's too far away for me unfortunatly.

I tried it and it didn't help me, though I have a host of other problems, so I'm not the ideal test subject. I can give you the e-mail of the place I got it from maybe if I still have my old e-mails. I don't know if I can share this info here but it is legal so...

That would be great! You can send it to me using babblemail if you're not sure about posting it.

Do you remember how much you took? I don't really care about exact numbers, but I'm wondering if it was equivalent to what's being used in research.

I don't want to get your hopes up too much, but somewhere along the line, when I was on cycloserine and nardil, maybe some Klonopin, one of those drugs or perhaps a combo killed the physical symptoms (rapid heartbeat, panic, sweating) of social phobia for me. Permanently, it seems. I no longer experience that, only the cognitive aspect. So give it a shot, what do you have to lose? Just remember to keep the dose low, it is more effective that way. And if you have a history of seizures, stay away.

I take clonazepam and that helps my social phobia (together with Effexor). Christophre I don't have my old e-mails in my current e-mail program(they got erased) but I did once make a backup of them with a special program, I gotta go look for it.

Oh, don't go to too much trouble. Thanks for looking, though, I appreciate it. Out of curiosity, do you remember how much they were?

Sorry about the delay, I lost my internet for 3 days! I wasn't able to get into that backup of e-mails and read them, but I'll e-mail you the places that I most likely asked. I had to ask them if they could get a hold of it I remember, they didn't have it on their webpage. Give me until tonight or tomorrow and I'll e-mail you the list of places.
