Reboxetine withdrawal -- how long? help!

Posted by MrMister on June 9, 2008, at 8:24:52

hi guys

first time on here, and i REALLY need some help

i suffer from derealization.. but was misdiagnosed with schizophrenia for 6 years, and i was on seroquel+cipramil for 5 of those

started taking reboxetine about 5 days ago (wed) had terrible side effects (panic, derealization) so came off on saturday night, its monday now and it just wont quit, i took 500mg of l-tyrosine on saturday afternoon.. and went ballistic after that.. derealization got worse.. and now its EVEN worse! coupled with panic and im off the drug

reboxetine has a half life of 13hrs.. so i cant work out why im like this , plus 5 days on it shouldnt produce withdrawal?

im currently on cipramil which eradicated the derealization about 90% but i suffered from deep depression and suicidal ideation hence them trying out the reboxetine on me

so could anyone give me a rough ballpark figure for when this may end ? (if ever?) ... it feels just like when i first fell ill with the derealization 7 years ago... and i am terrified im going to lose another 7 years of my life..

What dose of reboxetine did you take? My experiance with it is that 2mg takes 24hours for all the side effects to go away.. and the time grows from there with dose.

I have gotten pretty bad withdrawals from drugs I was only on for a few days. So I know from first hand experience it does happen. Not only that, but within that 5 days a cascade of events had already begun to take place in the brain and hormones. So even after the drug is gone, those events need to reverse back to baseline. With me, that usually takes minimum 3 days maximum 14 days...after the drug is completely gone, not after the last dose.

It is my hunch, without clinical evidence, that longterm antipsychotic use sets one up for having very unpredictable and very reactive responses to getting on and getting off meds, probably something to do with receptors being blocked for several years. After that period of time, their sensitivity is a lot different than it used to be.
