I can't believe I am writing this, but well it is on my mind, and I am too scared to ask a doctor. Well since I have increased my dose of Prozac from 20 a day to now 80mg a day, I have noticed a huge difference in my bowel size . Oh, gosh, I can't believe I am writing this.
First I was constipated really bad at the high dose, and it lasted for about a week.But now it seems, oh geeze, that the size is so huge round and heavy and it doesn't flush. This has been happening for a month now. I don't feel constipated when it happens. I probably won't get anyone else to admit such an embarrassing problem, but does this happen to anyone else? Or do you know a "friend" it happens to?lol But it is like pooping out a soft ball. Gosh I said a lot of things on this site, but nothing like this, I should block myself. lol

It happens with amitriptyline and some other TCAs (not a personal experience - I noticed it and others used to comment when I worked in a nursing home. I emptied lots of commode pans and incontinence pads, and there were certainly some huge specimens!).

OMG - while I have nothing worthwhile to post on your dilemma, I have to tell you that I laughed my "behind" (no pun intended!!) reading your post. I do suffer from your problem frequently, with or without meds, but your description was just hilarious. If nothing else, thank you for making me smile today :)

Thanks Quintal for reassurance I am not a total freak! lol But gosh I wish I could erase this thread. I know Dr. Bob won't so maybe he should answer my question, lol. He is an expert isn't he? Oh, gosh , I am going to hide!

I am glad you two got a good laugh! I just had to ask, but now I want to hide. Maybe it is practice when I ask my doc, if I do. :-)

If it errs on the diarrhea side, it can be subclinical serotonin syndrome. Don't be embarassed, we bear our chests about medicine, why not about #1 or #2 problems, or sexual ones as well.

Oh man, if that were the most embarrassing thing I've had to tell a doctor, LOL. You really need to tell him the problem.
My guess is that he'll prescribe something with insoluble fiber, like Metamucil. This will loosen your stools so that they don't hurt when you have a BM, and also stop the plumbing plug-ups.
It's going to give you hemorrhoids if you don't get some help.
If worst comes to worst, get a box of latex gloves, put one on, reach in the toilet, and break the stool up into pieces. You can just flush the glove. Yes, it's kind of gross, but it's better than a plugged up toilet.
