Lyrica/Neurontin: Oh Oh .......................

Posted by MARTY on April 12, 2008, at 10:36:25

What was you dosage and side effects ?
How was your withdrawal ? Was it hard ?

I'm having some hard times with my ~450mg/day LYRICA withdrawal.. I have this 'abstract pain' which is 3/4 psychological (depression+nervous tension) and 1/4 physical.. like a diffuse and subtle pain.. like all the nerves in my body was in a light inflammation state. The weird thing is that I can't tell WHERE the physical pain end and where the mental pain starts! ..

.. please share your withdrawal experiences about this drug. .. and also : when you were on it, did it gave you some kind of EUPHORIA or any kind of a good feeling which you think could be potentially addictive ? .. I think high dose Lyrica can be addictive. (BTW, Lyrica is classified as Schedule IV by the FDA.. which says alot)

Thanks for sharing!

Hi Phil -- I can't tell it's worst than benzos withdrawal. As far as I'm concerned hell itself could be less harsh than benzos withdrawal .. :S

MMMaaarrrtttyyyyy!!!!!

Well, i don't know about withdrawal..i am currently on 400 mgs. a day. Addictive/euphoric? Most definitely! High dose is definitely euphoric, and it makes you crave (addictive) more.

Hi Phillipa

I very much doubt it is worse than benzo withdrawal. Everyone is different though.

-- lol .. do you have some 'downs' sometimes (at the end of the day or after drinking) that you could identify as some kind of "Lyrica Down" ? .. I think there's such a thing actually.

I think neurontin is addictive and I never take it for me than three days in a row. But even after that I feel bad for one day after that. Save it for weekends so at least I'm in a good mood. Has ad and anti-anxiety properties for me. Also have used 1 - 2 milligrams of klonopin for years. I can't get lower than 1 milligram without major anxiety. Benzos are very addictive. My wife who does inusrance says lot of people on neronton like it and won't go off. So I would say also very addictive also. Maybe you should slowly taper off. Lyrica is much more powerful than neurontin so maybe even more addictive.

hi marty-- i've been on lyrica up to 150mg three times a day. i also take 1mg of xanax or klonopin 3-4x a day. as far as withdrawal-type symptoms go, i would say that it was hard to separate out what was caused by lyrica and what was caused by the benzos. for the most part, even with the doses i take, i don't really feel the anxiety meds working. by about the second day on lyrica, i stopped getting that nice floaty feeling i got for the first few doses. i do feel lots of anxiety and tension when i don't take them, though. i stopped taking pretty much all my meds for 3-4 days recently when i had stomach flu symptoms. i didn't even really realize that med withdrawal could be making me feel worse, which might have been disastrous. by the time i next saw my pdoc for an appointment, i was shaking really bad, was dizzy and nauseated, and was sensing bright flashes all around me. he made me take a xanax right away to avoid a seizure. i should have made the connection, but i didn't. it does make sense, though, since lyrica is an anticonvulsant and since benzo withdrawal can cause seizures. i'm not saying that you should be particularly worried, but that's all the more reason to taper off the lyrica and/or benzos slowly.

good luck!
