I've been taking a small dose of seroquel at night (50 - 100 mg) for several months and have done pretty well / stable. But now with Spring, I have felt more prone to hypomania during the day.
Do a lot of you notice that you need more meds during the changing of the seasons?
I'm afraid if I took 50mg of seroquel in the morning I would fall asleep at my desk.
If I took a higher dose at night would it carry me through the next day - not sure what the half-life is.

Many of us are so sensitive to seasonal changes with mood and energy levels. I can usually cut back on my AD over the summer months. I tend to cycle for a week with the time changes. Start to track you energy levels, sleep, etc.. It may only be temporary until your body adjusts to the increasing amounts of daylight. Contact your p-doc if it doesn't abate. You could very well need an adjustment with your medication.

You could try taking the 50mg of Seroquel in the morning along with a couple of mugs of strong coffee. Not the instant rubbish, but the freshly ground stuff. I know it can be difficult to prepare at work, but try using a decent Cafetiere and take some ground coffee into work with you, then just add the hot water as necessary. Sounds odd advice, but I find that a couple of strong cups of good coffee conteracts any unwanted drug-induced drowsiness. Be careful if anxiety is something of a problem to you, as strong coffee will make it worse..!
Good luck!

> Do a lot of you notice that you need more meds during the changing of the seasons?Yes. I believe that it is linked with an increase in the production of histamine which happens at spring. Seroquel is also an anti-histaminic drug.
If histamine is what causing you troubles indeed, you can try to stay at 50mg and add a pure anti-histamine med (that passes the blood-brain barrier) to see if this will work for you.
