Hi everyone,
Went to see my psychiatrist yesterday and he finally decided to take me off Seroquel as it wasn't doing a thing for my anxiety.
He's 'upped' my dose of Cipralex to 15mg and told me to go up to 20mg if I need to in a fortnight.
He's also put me on Zyprexa - 2.5mg. Does anyone know how long Zyprexa takes before it has some effect on anxiety?
Thanks!

I take Zyprexa, it works usally 15-45min after it is taken.
2.5 is not much, but for some stabilizing it good.
Hope it works!

I was on zyprexa a long time. I found 5mg to be the dose that had strong anti-anxiety. When I was on 2.5mg it didn't have much anti-anxiety and actually seemed to create some instead.
For me it would take 2 hours to kick in after a dose. I could take a dose, look at the clock, and predict with accuracy within minutes of when that wash of calm would come over me. In some clinical studies it took a week to ten days. At the right dose there should be some immediate effects, but more therapeutic effects should occur as time goes on.

I've been on Zyprexa for several weeks now, and have taken from 2.5-7.5 mgs/day, depending on what's going on. I'm at 2.5 mgs now and certainly feel its effect (I use it for bipolar mania), but both with starting it and re-starting it after stopping for a few days, there was about a three day period before it took a "hold" on me. Good luck!

Thanks for your messages. I've been on it now for four nights - tonight will be my 5th night. I've upped the dose to 5mg - but I haven't received any sort of anxiolytic effects yet.
I'm starting to panic that Zyprexa - which has helped loads of people on this board - will not work for me.

and depending on your needs, you may not see it with 5mg. when i was really "up" i wouldn't even see an effect until i hit 10. then there where other times when i was off it for a while where i received immediate effect (most of the time) give about 2 hours).
it would chill me but not stop me or tire me that's when i knew i'd have to hit 10 before it would help.so depending on what you are looking for. you won't get a reaction like you do with benzo's (course everyone's different) but it will make you tired at first. but i started my doses at 5 not 2.5
best wishes.
and don't go up too fast you could get a swollen tongue...no joke. i've seen it.
